On the Road is an autobiographical novel about Sal (I think that's the protagonist name) and his physically and spiritual journey across America. Just read it!!

I love Dharma Bums.. I love the way he describes everything..You feel like you're in the room with these characters.. I love to hear him read his own work.. Its amazing..Although I did hear something about Ginsberg teasing him about speaking bad French..

According to Ginsberg, Jack was full of shit most of the time...According to rumors he was a big player...

    oh ok kool
Actually reading something and being inspired enough to practice it is a powerful thing in this age of all talk and no action. Your simple little lines above are actually quite moving. Good first post friend!

On The Road is one of the greatest books ever written. Kerouac was the man.

yea i finished it today, i guess it is a good book in that it shows various sides to mankinds nature. I found some of his descriptions of jazz and its musicians rambling, as i am not a fan and have never heard of any of these people.
Kinda didnt live up to all the hype, but a good read nonetheless. Nice to see things from someone else's perspective though.

I can't say I've ever read either 'Dharma Bums' or 'On The Road', but I'm actually in the process of reading 'Desolation Angels' and also 'Some of The Dharma'. Both are Kerouac books. The second is actually a collection of his journal's from his buddhist studies. It's really interesting.
