this dready worries me a bit. Its REALLY loose, just feels unknotty at the root, then kinda knotty for about an inch, and then it just goes into normal, fine, straight, smooth hair =/

    any advice?

It'll probably get there in the end.....I had a couple which lagged behind the others by about 5 months. Maybe a bead or something to create tension between the hairs and make them buckle?

Thanks for posting all the pics. Is good to have something to compare to. Mine have shrunken right down compared to yours. Not sure what that means. But I have tons of frizzies too... on the top of my head and coming out of each individual dread. Also, my entire back has fallen out of the backcombed dreads, but I think it's a touch too short. Meh. Thanks again.

phillllllllllllllllllllll. thats an understatement =D but then im quite stressed lately.. exams and all that bull. i just feel like they should at least be tightening up a bit by now? but a few of them are quite loopy at the roots, so that balances it all oot. but yes, they are babes. 2 nalf weeks old haha. *must stop stressing*

daisy - youre welcome =] i like flicking back through and seeing how theyve changed and stuff.. my family think they look like they did when they were first done, they dont understand all the loopies and looseness and stuff =[ frizzies are all part of the fun, i love mine =D

i washed them again this morn, the bicarb wash, cause im trying to compare it to the Kboy shampoo bar that i also use, and atm i cant decide which is betterer..

and lots of the ribbons have fallen out too.. ganna have to find a new way of tying them in me thinks

totally unfair that we can't go back in time either... i would give anything to go back just a few days... anything at all.

So this morn, I used more bicarb and less salt compared with what I usually use, and I think its worked better. Poured it over my head and left it on for 10 mins (it was stingin like a bitch on the back of my head) and I rinsed it off and put it up in a towel for a bit, and then let it air dry.. anyway, this is what it looked like after the wash [still wet]

    blatant boob shot, tehehe

All straggly and wonderful =] im always a bit nervous about them when theyre wet, because they seem looser than normal, but its all good, cause as they dried they felt quite a bit tighter, and more together (the majority did anyway)

I took out most of the ribbons cause they were loose/falling out/getting annoying. I decided to use thread instead =] spent a coupla hours doing these.. the yellow one is called Maxxie by the way (I found him phil!) the red one is a short length of ribbon, im ganna see how long it stays, but I wont be surprised if I end up taking it out tomorrow.

I’m quite proud of them, I like colour =D I don’t like that I cant reach around the back and do a few though.. I could ask the parent type, but she hates my hair so I try not to shove them in her face as it were..

going back in time would just stress me out again, so much college work going on at the moment :(

I guess we will both just have to play the waiting game derry.

oh by the way my parents are not to happy with my hair either :)

i think its a parent thing

I bought 100% wool and just tied it around one dread to see how it would look... just like you have done with your ribbon. I left it in for only a day and a half and it did such a great job of helping the dread suck in the loose hairs. There are still a lot of lose ones, but I would wager there is 75% less (75%?... sounds about right).

yeah, the ribbon didnt really do anything about the loose hairs, but it has made the dreads more rounded and dreadlike, as opposed to loose and fluffy

I think plain hemp twine would look manly enough, and maybe some darker earthier colours... and the right sorts of beads too

Your dreads are coming together really well Smelly! :)
