I live about 30 miles from Nashville which is in a tie for 17th. I was born and raised about 40 miles from Indianapolis which is ranked 6th.
First off, Seattle is a great city, but we have our depression problems as well, especially in october-april months as it's very cloudy and rainy around here. In fact, I'm suprised we got beat out by Portland. Although I think SEattle is prettier and more colorful than Portland, so that might have something to do with it. As for being the WHITEST place on earth? Are you kidding me? We have folks of ALL asian backgrounds living all around here. Korean, Philipino, Japanese, vietnamese, etc. AND we also have plenty of people of African descent and latino descent all around here. Seattle is a very culturally diverse city.
I grew up in the 4th most depressed city, so that must be what's wrong with me. FUCK! No wonder...I need to get outta here!
i wonder if they took population into account. according to the article it was based on antidepressant sales, suicide rates and number of days inhabitants were depressed. the first two would logically just go to the city with the most people, unless that was accounted for
I didnt see jacksonville on there even though it should be # 1 but maybe everybody doesnt see it that way.
