Well there might not be a demon behind every bush, but I know of at least one Bush with a demon hanging around behind. And to whomever said it about demons whispering to lie and cheat and steal and such, no that's not quite how it works. By no means are there demons running about whispering in folks ears that they should go and do evil, that's a silly idea. Satan or whatever may have invented all of evil and horriibleness, but it is us that does it willingly and independantly. For example, Thomas Edison developed practicle electric lightbulbs, but we use them willingly and independantly, not because Edison whispered in our ear. Even if he had the power to do so such would still be the case.
Demons, so what's a demon? A demon is a fallen angel kicked out of heaven and either chained in hell awaiting judgement or roaming the earth till the judgement. That's my understanding of it. Do they take human form? I've never heard of that! Angels can but there's no biblical reference for demons doing this! So far as I know. Sounds like that lady you were listening to was a wac job! Come to think of it, the only biblical reference for a demon taking human form is the part about the antichrist in revalations and he's the devil not a demon. Lucifer, he was one of the higher angels like Gabriel protecting the throne of God. Lucifer got kicked out because he wanted to be like God. You know the story. The devil incarnate isn't supposed to take human form till the end of time to decieve the world into going to hell and gets defeated by Jesus and you know the story. Demons, how did we ever get into this mess? Did you ever wonder where the concept of demons comes from? Was it: a.) Mythology b.) Religions c.) Literature d.) Ancient peoples That lady who said demons take human form sounds like a right wing republican. These people, they become christians and right away they become right wing republican christian fanatics! And fast! We have people like James Dobson who want to save the country from judgement so he gets heavily involved in politics. Then there's Pat Robinson who wants to kill Hugo Chavez. Are these people nuts? I don't know. In Sodum and Gomorea they wanted to rape the angels, here in America we're gonna kill the demons, I don't think either are gonna tell us who they are. Hohum this is boring. Demons as discussed here seem to be a product of popular mythology rather than truth. Inner demons may be another matter, but that is just giving another name to the flaws introduced to human nature by original sin. I've seen great temptation placed in the path of people who have just been saved especially, but I don't believe in any demonic army walking the earth trying to trip people up - the war over souls is between Satan and God.

Just for the sake of argument, let's say they exist. Someone said that it would cause people to kill them. Well, if one is really a "Christian" it is more than clear that this type of action is ONLY for God to do. Not for humans. Similar to Judgement and telling people they will go to hell. Had a good nun in Catholic School who said "taking the Lord's name in vain" is actually telling people YOU are doing what God should be doing or saying. Like condemning people to hell, or "killing" demons. Might be something to think about, for those who like to tell others what they think God is thinking.
Gentile people who obviously have issues got a demon cast out and they acted without influence. A pal of mine was once tempted by a person trying to give her cocaine ( she used to be an addict ), she said " In the name of Jesus I rebuke you demon. I have the blood of the lamb covered over me, and no weapon formed against me shall prosper. In the name of Jesus I comand you to stop. " or something the like. And the person started MANIFESTING saying things like " stop saying that! Stop mentioning that name!" and running off like a drunkard. Now THAT was something...
Believe it or not, i had a run-in w/ an angel when i was 6. Me, my sister, and my mom were at a park in louisana. Now we just moved there so we didnt know where any close by places were, nor did we know any people. We were just killing time until my dad could pick us up. So anyways while my 4 year old sister was playing on the jungle jim/gym idk, she fell and split her head wide open. My mom looks around screaming for help to somebody come help us and it was like one of those deserts w/ the tumbleweed, everything was 'empty'. So after about 2 minutes of my mom just concentrating on stopping the blood, she turns around and this nice tall good-looking man is there, takes my lil sister and replies to my mom "she'll be ok, I promise", he must of said those exact words 3 times. While hes holding my sis he starts walking to a near by hospital (I WAS HOLDING HIS HAND THE WHOLE WAY). So we get to the front(were still outside) and the man gently hands over my sister to my mom and we all proceed to walk in the hopsital. Then, heres the crazy part. My mom walks in the door while the man is holding it open for her, so my mom was JUST about to say thank you for everything including holding the door, and the man was GONE. My mom gave me my sister to hold real quick and ran out the door looking in all directions for the man just so she could pour out her grattitude in basically saving my sisters life. We never seen the man after that. Now I only remember vivid details, but one thing i remember is holding is hand. My mom to this day, swears my sister was saved by an angel that day. I could care less if nobody believes this, i just wanted to share a wonderful expirience w/ my fellow hipforumers.
That was a cool story smokin. Glad that your sister was ok. I have heard Christians say before that many diseases and sicknesses are spiritual in nature, sometimes involving demonic influence. I can't speak on this specifically, but I have had first hand experience with spiritual healing. I've witnessed injuries and sicknessed that have suddenly disappeared through prayer.
I hear ya. There was a time that I wouldn't have believed it either. I've seen too much evidence of God's works now to discount it though. It would take some serious rationalization on my part to deny God's existence and love now.
The idea that demons could be real would make you think of mid evil times. Yet as a christian, and going back to the year 1973 I had an encounter with two of them. Their names were altra and abjar. They tried to take me over and they were a very powerful force in my life. It's kind of a long story, but I have to tell you, this encounter really happen to me, and after six months a group of christians who I met in Crete Il. were able to send them away through the power of Christ. I still have the tapes from that delieverance so long ago.
