Yeah, Deep Purple are very nice indeed Buuuuuurrn! and Perfect Strangers make me feel warm and fuzzy.
Early Purple was the best. Lost interest after My Women from Tokyo I think it was. They haven't equaled stuff like "Lazy", "Chasing Shadows", "The Shield", "Space Truckin", etc. Saw them back in 70 or so but can't remember a single note. Now why is that?
simply just like them!!!!! i think they are really great! and its striking to see that they are only 18 i totally agree with you they should be at least one of the 10!! they are pretty good especially child in time, woman from tokyo, smoke on the water,mistreated...... for me deep purple is the best band!!!
Thought I'd resurrect this thread just to say how much I love the Purps! They were the first band I really got into, amazing musicians with so much passion and creativity. Made in Japan is such a killer live album, Nobody's Perfect is good too. Ian Paice was one of the best drummers around, and the way Lord and Blackmore played off each other was pure magic. Shame we don't hear much about them these days, never hear them on the radio in the UK now sadly.
Deep Purple has always been a top 5 band of mine. I have seen them many times and they never fail to please. So many different lineups over the years, and all worked well. Number 18 is a shame indeed. On a related note, back in the 90's when I bought my BUD(Big Ugly Dish), I used to get the Canadian satellites and I could watch Much Music. Then they came out with Much Music for USA, but I dont think that lasted long. You say Much More Music, is this another channel in addition to Much Music, or is this what they are just calling themselves now? Come to think of it, there was a channel called More Music back then where you could buy the cd's from the videos that they were showing at very reasonable prices. Did Much buy out More? Also, on a totally different note, tell whoever is responsible that we in the US want the 90's tv show North of 60 released on dvd, I loved that show.
never thought of deep purple as metal,to me they were straight ahead, hard rock.love ritchie blackmore and jon lord
Saw Purole live so many times it's not funny anymore......still dig 'em strong though . Last concert I saw was in Italy with Steve Morse of course
