sadly, our jails are packed with petty criminals too. more people incarnated in the US than any other western nation..gee, seems like I have been saying those type of things a lot lately. Part of that is because jail does not serve as a rehabilitation center (not their job), as stated by wardens/people who run prisons. so they just crowd people in who are rarely helped. we help drug addicts and people with booze problems all the time, why not people thrown in the slammer? Part of the reason people support the DP, is our jails are packed as is from what I have seen...but why are there so many people in jail for years for having a little pot, for instance, it is terrible.

 

I think you meant incarcerated. But you're right, the jails are full. Full of people who killed, maimed, assaulted, raped, robbed and burgled. And people who got busted for a couple of seeds in the Kombi in 1070. Watch "The Wire". Spend a few days on the mean steets of Baltimore. Drive up Monroe Street and see how many bleeding bodies you see on the sidewalk. There's a reason the prisons are full. We have degened into a society of violence and indifference. That's why the violence continues and the biggest criminal of all occupies the white house.

 

nah, i believe the death penalty is wrong. i used to be all for it, but now i think everyone makes mistakes, even if it is a huge one that affects other people, i don't think your life should be taken away because of it.
i'm sure humans have been raping each other for as long as we've been around.. that's not to say that i would do it, especially not in modern times.. and i can't say i'd want it to happen to me.. but it wouldn't be the end of the world, would it?

but yea, i think the point to where people have evolved to now, to be an educated individual and still not be able to control the urge to rape someone (not that raping people is even an urge someone should be getting), i figure they'd have to have some sort of mental imbalance.. so i guess we should just kill all the retards too, kill anyone who is below a certain intellectual level (i'd love that, there are way too many fools on this planet..)

I agree, this is a violent culture...and as others said... this violence is not rehabilitated.

Society has a simple solution to violence and crime... throw someone in prison. Prison does not rehabilitate, at most it only increases ones hate for society, one's knowledge of crime, and one's experience with violence.

Prison generates more murder than it stops.

Yet again, when you look at this world, you will find that the nations with the best behaved citizens are either the extremely liberal ones, or the ones with extremely radical rules (such as Singapore). It's either no jail, or jail for everything.

 

Also, on the subject of rape.

I think that rape is terrible, but you cannot avoid comparing humans to animals. Animals tend to practice so called "rape". The female does not always have a choice with whom she sleeps (usually with the dominant male in larger mammals, etc). One must realize that humans are also animals. I believe that humanity is naturally becoming less sex driven throughout evolution, even though the statistics go against me. I think that humanity is subconsciously realizing that the propagation of the species is not what will make it survive in modern time, it instead has to focus on resource conservation, and food gathering. This is why society is becoming much more individual-based. Humans are separating from being one single organism into billions of organisms... it's pretty and sad at the same time. Anyhow, rape is also less common these days, because of laws mostly (but the existence of these laws can also be a result of so called evolution).

Rape would have been viewed completely natural in an earlier stage of human evolution. Hell, you can even see massive examples of rape in modern day. People will rape other people while there's no consequence. It's a very animalistic reaction. You cannot put people to death for it.

It's the same with pedophilia and other such so called "illnesses". You cannot kill humans for something they have little conscious control over.

 

Pavel, if you find the happy medium, the ultra liberal nations (read: FRANCE) screams that you're oppressive. If you sweep your shit under the rug to give the appearance of having it all together (read: UK) and another nation has a crime problem (read: US) then you can scream that they're out of control.

i have a feeling people will hate me for this, but honestly, i think rape is an overrated crime. yes, it should be illegal and should be punished, but really, it's treated as being worse than murder, and that is bullshit. all it is is forced physical contact. honestly, if i held you down and stuck my penis in you, is that really THAT much worse than holding you down and beating you within an inch of your life? personally, i'd rather be ass-raped by a large black man than have him break into my apartment, beat me up, and steal all my things. yet, if he did that, he'd get 5 years and people would think that was fair, whereas if he had sex with someone while he was at it he deserves to die? i don't know, obviously i just don't get some things that apparently should be obvious...

I don't believe people should die for raping someone else. Although I do believe that child molestors should be harmed in some way. The ways I would do it are thought to be cruel and unusual.

At anyrate, i dont believe in the death penalty for anyone unless its out of neccesity. (i.e. lost in the jungle with a killer and no police around, or super villain that can break out of jail no problem and go on killing)
