I heard he quit his first kitchen job because the head chef was always yelling at him. If that is true it's ironic that he is famous for doing that now. I've seen his daughter cook and she seems more laid back. I would not last long on that show though. "Chef here is my microwave pizza and grilled cheese sandwich". But they are gourmet to me.

    Morning fun on the farm:

Young pup has decided that walking on ice is the most fun ever. She plays on the ice covered doggie wading pool in the backyard.

She tried it on the big catfish pond today and promptly fell thru the ice. Howling and thrashing. I'm sure the sleeping catfish were not amused. Roomie had to scoop her out of there. Now both of them will probably spend the rest of the day in front of the fireplace.

Wet dog smell running amuck in here.

She's part husky...part several colors of lab. Totally a water dog that loves ice. She's a pistol. I'll be very glad when she gets out of the puppy stage. Six months old now, so maybe soon. Although, I've heard that some husky pups stay puppy most of their lives. I'll run out of shoes for her to chew up soon. At least she learned how to swim today. Sort of. :) That's her at two months old in my avatar pic.

We've grown mushrooms before from a kit you can buy online. Portobellos and Shiitake. Very yum. The portobellos got so big that we made individual pizzas out of them using the mushroom as the pizza shell.

I'd like to get that going in the spring again. Gotta study up on how to inoculate old wood on our own. No real reason to order the kits if I learn how to do this myself, I suppose. Morels grow wild here but I'm not brave enough to mushroom harvest on my own in the wild.

I've often wondered about the mushroom growing kits. It seems like every kind of mushroom I've ever seen a picture of I've seen some that look that way around here. HOWEVER, I also know many poisonous types mimic the look of an edible. So, I'm not eating a dang thing I pick from here unless I've grown it.

I used to make excellent portabello mushroom bisque...sprinkle some shaved mozzarella on top.

I still want to munch on something. Eve though I ate a big good lunch not 3 hours ago, I could go just take a bite off of something in there right now. Edibles give you the munchies too. lol

The mushroom growing kits work great all by themselves. You just leave them in a dark place until you're ready to harvest. BUT... they are wicked expensive for the amount of mushrooms you harvest. I'll probably order one more kit of each and use them to inoculate some wood that i can keep reusing.
