this went the other way for me....my kid actually was on the front page of 3 different newspapers for stupid minor shit easily attributed to his mental health but some **** decided to make it bigger than it was and unfortunately she was a court reporter who was able to give her bullshit slanted and misleading view on the crime for all to read and spread...​

Back to your reply. Sadly, the media are so focused on stories and making money, they have no consideration for how hurt people can be, or any interest in the true context of the situation. Over recent months they have caused a couple of international incidents here in the UK, one of which resulted in the resignation of a government minister over a single word that the reporter deemed as racist. The whole thing was complete rubbish.
Our daughter is not allowed to speak to the press under any circumstances. While some people may see this as censorship, the reality is that it would prevent a situation similar to what happened to your son being blown up all over the papers. The type of incidents that I mentioned in my last comment are things that she comes across almost every day. In many cases the hardest thing is not to burst out laughing.
I have the greatest sympathy for your situation with your son. Our neighbors boy suffers with downs syndrome. During the summer, he would just walk into our house and sit playing with our cats in the lounge or back garden. As he is now 19. over 6 foot and weighs 17 stone, he has frightened a few passers by in the past, but since we are in a quiet rural neighborhood their was always someone around to reassure them. About a year ago, a woman visiting the street got into her car to drive off and the lad jumped into the passenger seat and sat beside her. Fortunately the woman was a doctor visiting one of her patients. You could just imagine how that could have turned out if someone like your court reporter had been passing by.
