This is a long shot: an indie movie that probably won't get much circulation. It is playing well locally because it was filmed here. But if it does come your way, it is worth seeing. This is a beautifully filmed, well-written, well-acted film about transgender acceptance. (And lack thereof in some cases.) After being estranged from her family for several years, during which time she transitioned, Dawn comes home for her mother's funeral, surprising everyone. It is a small farm in a rural community, and, while some people are accepting, some aren't. (Trigger warning for some offensive dialogue and conduct.) The story is about how Dawn and her father reconcile by restoring an old tractor. Being an indie film, it might be hard to find it. It won't be showing in many theatres, and it may be a while before it is picked up on any streaming service. But if you find it, you have to watch it!
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13190778/ If I'm not mistaken, the central character is someone I've seen on a youtube channel. Thanks for the heads-up, KathyL.. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN_bjtwzyK3aWVQapDiTujA
On a planet of 8 billion, 400 million people, don't you think people could be more accepted and respected, regardless of physical and gender differences?
At least here in the west, the vast majority of everyday people are. It is mainly the media who want us to think differently, since that is how they make their money. I think this problem is worse in the US, than here in the UK.
