So i was perusing GoogleNews today and came across this article; http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/02/us/02dbcooper.html Basically some dude 40 years or so ago hijacked a plane, let all the passengers go free in exchange for $200,000, and then parachuted out of the plane.. The identity of the man was never found out despite 1000s of leads. Government 'authorities' have now said they think they have the best lead yet.... Read the article, i found it quite interesting. Anyone remember this incident? Have any other information about it...
Why are people still so fascinated by this story? At a minimum when he disappeared in 1971 he was 35 years old which would make him 83. Even if he's somehow still alive, the money he stole is long gone, he probably suffers from arthritis, wears dentures, drools all over his caregiver, and likely wears depends.
Years ago, a man.....i forgot his name..... made a deathbed confession to his wife that he was the infamous DB Cooper. Hasn't been proven though.
guy was cia. and how people allowed there to start being all that security stuff in airports. guy was just a desk grunt for them. they let him have a little adventure, just of shits and giggles for him, but to achieve the agenda mentioned for them. well you can take it how you will, but once upon a time, about a decade later, i learned this from his son. or at least the guy had the same name, an aquaintence, and no reason to assume he was bullshitting. no more then on gp's with any human anyway. (and if that isn't enough buzzkill, yah the guy survived, but this was long enough ago, that he's probably dead by now of natural old age)
HistoryHD has a 2 part D.B.Cooper mystery special on now. 4hours from 1pm cst to 5pm cst Very interesting for me because I really didn't know the who what where and why of D.B.Cooper. Lots of good archival video footage and photographs.
I remember the incident....took many a flight in the 727 with a rear exit door. Some time ago a bunch of deteriorated cash matching the payout was found in a sand bar along the Columbia downstream from Portland. One theory is he landed in the drink and didn’t survive and some of the cash washed downstream.
It's on again tonight at 6:00 pm Eastern I love mysteries but the only thing I find more boring than D.B. Cooper is the curse of oak island.
coop has left the building. the money went back to the banks that lent it, if it was ever even there. i love a mystery, but you see i once upon a time knew a guy who may have been his son. the cooper thing was all about putting metal detectors in airports, and everything since that began with that. it wasn't exactly a secret cabal. more of just a day's work for somebody. nvm. already said all that. the thing with tv reserecting this thing is probably why the thread was. yah tv's gotta drag old shit outa the ground to sell post toasties. well it does tecnically count as history considering as how far it is in the past.
The legend goes there’s a pit in Nova Scotia in which people for over 200 years have been finding jewels and gold coins Several prominent people over the years have mounted expeditions and digs in the hope of discovering a king’s ransom, but so far to no avail.
