I saw this Topic and could not resist, even though I'm a woman...anyway, here is an honest-to-God true story:
Years ago, I worked as a vocational evaluator. Part of my job was knowing and having accurate medical history. I tested them for about a week, interviewed them and later wrote reports, giving our "educated" vocational prognosis and suggestions. Anyways, we had this client that when he was 14 years old, got to reading the Bible and he had Some Serious mental issues. Well, he decided from some (later unidentified) scripture that he was going to Cut Off his Family Root. His mother found him sitting in his bedroom with the Bloody Stump of his penis in his hand. dear God.
They took him to the hospital, and our agency wound up with him. He was a very kind and pretty decent looking young man by the time I saw him. But still...He wanted to work, etc. but he had Major Emotional Problems and deserved the check he got.

 

out of the literally thousands of people I saw in that life; this case, that young man I nev er ever forgot.
