To me, Laughing Stock is a great album to just chill the fuck out to. I mean, it is a good album for weed for sure. You can listen to it with other people, regardless of their openness to slightly experimental music, and it's likely something everyone can at least enjoy. It just has such a good sound to it. It's eclectic music, but also very accessible and pretty easy to get into (aside from some of the more atonal parts, which some people may find boring). Some have called Talk Talk the Radiohead of the 90s, which, to me, is slightly insulting.

The post-rock genre basically began with The Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock -- those two albums being among benchmarks not only of that genre but all of modern music.
