curious question about lights..

Guys! the Eye hortilux superblue is still 110,000 lumins while the HPS is 145,000 lumins so there's not much difference in the amount of light the girls bask under!>P

 

Hi, I'm building my first box and need some help. The boxes dimensions are as follows:100 cm long, 40cm deep and 75cm high. Do you think it would be safe to put one 400 watt hps bulb in this box? Also considering the box is sealed except for two 90mm fans from an old computer. How many plants should/could I grow in this box. If you could give me any other helpful hints it would help a lot!!!!!!!!!!

IMO a 400 watt hps is way to big of a light for such a small box. just to keep from burning the plants you need roughly 50 cm (not real up on my metrics but i think thats about 18 inches) of space between the light and the plant..

im not a grower and back when i did i never grew in such confined spaces so maybe someone with more experience may correct me but my answer is theres no way you can use a 400 watt HPS light in that small of a space...

 

I would say it would be challenging, but the box should be turned with the highest side upwards. Right now its 2.5' height x 3.5' x 1.3' . Very tight with no accounting for grow medium. A cool tube would be mandatory. HIDs throw an incredible amount of heat.
