monkeys usually have the same ugliness as humans only more so. of course, anime can make an exception to anything. its all up to us. to how we want to draw cute.
i mean come on, mlp's look absolutely nothing like real horses. but for shere aesthetics, nothing beats cats, mustalids, and the combination of the two.

canids can be ok too. gallacci's coyote girls for example, which are not strictly anime but are anthropomorphic.
most of the pokimons too. especially evee and her many cousins.

and no i'm not female, nor personally attracted to same gender relationships, even if some guys can make themselves cute and are.
but yes, i have what might be a fictional character, or possibly a goddess, or possibly even a wife from a previous life,
and by previous life, i mean before the body i wear now was ever born into this planet earth.

not someone else's copyrighted character, but an o.c. of my own, the goddess and priestess elxtia.
she looks like whatever the people on that world, which i call lananara, look like.

whom i've come to presume, somewhat arbitrarily, are born looking rather a great deal like green furred cats.

i do not know if we ever had any children, i believe there is some sort of self sustaining microbe in the air or water of that world that somehow automatically and impartially statistically prevents the birth rate from ever exceeding the rate of death from old age.

(oh i forgot to mention dragons and unicorns. dragons do it in flight. not sure what unicorns do, and then there's pierson's puppetteers, who have both genders in the same body, the male organ forward of the single hind led, and the female below the chest between the pair of front legs, if i ever get around to doing a rule 34 or whatever its called, a porn, i've thought about a mating between them. and of course my apologies to neven if i've gotten that wrong, but that was my impression anyway)

Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries, but not so much the real life actor. He's not as bad ass as his character. Then again, he's not a vampire.
