I rented a couple of rooms I found in Craigslist.

At the first place my landlord/roommate ended up being a male prostitute and all these old men used to come around to the house asking for him. The cops were constantly at the house because of fighting among roommates. On the plus side my female roommates would walk around the house in the underwear and sunbath topless in the back yard.

My second place from CL started out good. But then I found out my roommates were all recovering drug addicts and after 6 months they fell off the wagon and started hitting the crack pipe again. I came home one night and they had this crackwhore in the house, I swear this chick looked like Gollum from LOTR and had the same voice too. They spent night rocking it up and banging this chick in the living room, I moved out the next morning.

I have my own Craigslist rental horror story as I'm in the rental currently.

Ad advertised $250 a month for a studio. I went for it and called the realty company. They led me to believe that I was alone in consideration for the unit. I show up to the place on a day I thought was scheduled for me, myself and I...12 people showed up. It felt like an auction. The 'application' fee was $25 and the only two ways to pay it were via PayPal online or in cash and in person at the actual office in Indianapolis. I opted to go straight to the office and slammed my money down firmly. The place was a shithole, but I NEEDED a place.

Now this place is shitty. The doors are fucked, the carpet is beyond respect and the tub has Knicks and scratches in it so bye bye baths. (Make fun of me if you want, I was sad about that) The place may be shitty but I knew what I was getting into from the get go. I mean c'mon the place is $250 a month and i split that with my girl. What upsets me about this place is how shitty the realty company treats its tenants. I mean world class service is a running joke over at this office I'm sure. They know full well how bad this place is but they get all snobby with me when I request maintenance. All that aside,it's my first place and I'm here until January of next year so I'm trying to make the best out of it.

It's amazing what posters, rugs, and a little optimism can do for a place like this.

I rented a place from craigslist and ended up having to move outta there 2 wks before I had my baby (which sucked!!!) because the guy lived upstairs and ended up...tho at first he seemed normal and nice...to be INSANE. And he went and got all these huge dogs and would leave them alone all night every night and not show up for days and the dogs would bark and knock things over all night...
and we mentioned it to him and the guy flipped out ... ugh.. it was a nightmare.

and you don't even WANNA hear about the ppl who I met when I was doing child care and posted an ad on craigslist...
and well, come to think of it... if i wanted to meet an insane person id go look there but if not, i'd pass on it.
