should we be merging these? CoVid-19, Wuhan Coronavirus, and Trump's CoViD Response? Then we'd really have a party! :tonguewink:

Sound like a plan? No? too late. I already reported it... :D

    Just kidding. But reallly?

All of them except the Wuhan Coronavirus one could be merged for all I care. The Wuhan one has interesting posts, updates and reports that I would prefer not getting diluted with the rest of these threads for the sake of readability and viewability.

From what I understand, there is a trial. The injection teaches your immune system to do backflips or somersaults or something.... Makes it know how to attack the virus that it clearly has no intention of attacking on its own. :(

From my understanding it does attack the virus but it attacks protective cells as well, to use a war analogy it would be like attacking enemies but also doing a bunch of friendly fire.

Thank you. I don't actually know; just have read several articles and no research.

It's kind of abstract, but that's why many people recover from it, some are asymptomatic and those that die, tend to get secondary complications from it like pneumonia.

I doubt it would be possible to dumb you down more, so you're safe. Is yours a religious-based response, or do you have some other anti-science basis for resisting vaccinations? People like you are responsible for the rise of diseases we thought we had vanquished decades ago.

when you get a vaccine , it is a weakened form of the virus . your body recognizes the weak virus as a disease , and begins attacking the virus , and in the process develops antibodies that stay in your body for a long while . the problem is we don't know what is in that vaccine , except we know that aluminium and mercury are used to preserve this concoction and some believe they are there to also kick up our immune system . still not sure if it's a good thing . all I know is, I haven't taken a flu shot in 20 years , and I don't get the flu...…..

Coronavirus Scare: India becomes fifth country to successfully isolate COVID-19 strain

India is the fifth country in the world after Japan, China,Thailand and the United States of America to extract the virus in its pure form, which is vital for creation of the vaccine and Indian researchers are now fast working on a vaccine for it.

Similarly, cheaper and faster diagnosis kits for covid has been created in India recently , and this can reduce the time period for testing, which is crucial.

Chennai: Anna University researchers develop reusable mask | Chennai News - Times of India

New washable and reusable masks have also been created by researchers in India as response to the shortage of masks.

Times of crisis usually brings out new innovations, and the coronavirus crisis can perhaps help the world leapfrog in medical technology and research, and hopefully the UN may initiate the creation of new rules and regulations to be implemented globally for keeping off wildlife for food sources so as to prevent outbreak of unknown coronaviruses.

why the hell didn't japan, china, thailand and the US just share their findings with everyone else instead of forcing every country to do their own research from scratch?

Sorry for the late reply. There is speculation of different strains of the virus in different regions which may have mutated or evolved.

Viruses keep on evolving and mutating, and it is possible that we are dealing with different strains of the virus.

The strain in India seems to be a less virulent one at present compared to that in Europe or U.S., and we need to keep the virus in constant review to create effective and appropriate vaccines for it.

The virus can perhaps evolve to a more virulent form with time.So it is important that each region has its own mechanism to study the strain of the virus they are dealing with .

I am not a virologist, but this is my educated opinion on the subject.

I am all for international collaboration as diseases like yellow fever and diarrhea has been defeated by such collaborations.

A research paper formulating oral rehydration therapy for cholera by the Indian physician Dr.Hemanath Chatterjee was put into application for diarrhea as well by an American doctor named Dr. David Nalin. This was later considered to be one of the greatest advances of the twentieth century which saved millions of lives.

It is said of oral rehydration therapy , “No other single medical breakthrough of the 20th century has had the potential to prevent so many deaths over such a short period of time and at so little cost” .

Similarly research studies on yellow fever by the cuban researcher Dr.Carlos Finlay was used as research directives and put into practical application by the American army physician Walter Reed which successfully enabled him to reduce the incidence and prevalence of Yellow fever in North America, saving countless lives in the process.

It is ironic that while cuban and american physicians collaborated to defeat the dreaded disease of yellow fever, which killed millions in North America , the politicians in the U.S. and Cuba are at loggerheads with each other.
