Thing about the uk is in the last 65 years we have imported 22 million people, under blair we imported 3 million in ten years to rub the rights nose in diversity . why would the labour party do this . A couple of reasons in the 1950s they figured out that if you improve conditions for the working class they become torys, so although they claim to want higher wages and cheaper rents low house prices, what they actually do when in power regarding immigration leads to the opposite . They also figured out that identity politics first with race then with things like sex also was the thing to do to get votes, you could look at voting patterns for people of colour most vote labour . You see people on the left going on about taking in refugees, but they wouldn't like white south African refugees because they would be more likely to vote tory . The torys like low wages and high rents too or at least the landlords and employers do so they like immigration too . you can see this is the way people in politics think by thatcher wanting to create tory voters by selling off council house that policy was designed to get working class people to own property . they also tried to get them to own shares again to get tory voters .none of this mass immigration is good for the working class already in the uk . look at housing or homelessness thats supply and demand . you get people going on about wicked landlords and wanting laws to control bad landlords. But you cant have bad landlords if you dont have a greater demand for housing than you have houses to rent . Take a look at a seaside town in the summer the rents are high in the winter they fall its supply and demand . . the 3 million people of Blair is about the population of wales if you import 3 million new people in ten years your not going to build all the houses and flats in wales in ten years so your making the housing crisis worse . your raising house prices nationally so young family's cant get on the housing ladder .this is the opposite to what the labour party says it wants . if you import people you make more competition for jobs and therefore drive down wages especially for unskilled people . So even when we leave the EU very likely governments especially labour ones will still import millions of people . we have imported communitys some with really high birth rates they too will be drivers of unemployment and a housing crisis . The whole meme blaming white working class men like the one you have used, fits in with modern labour policy its in line with why they did the cover up of grooming, they demonise white working class people and men because they see their prime voter as not them .
Portugal Portugal plans special lanes for Britons in airports after Brexit I posted the above to Illustrate that most European countries will do what has to be done to protect their interests and that its the EU and not The People that are being intransigent
He doesn't look very working class to me - more like an Edwardian toff. I am not a supporter of Labour. I support the Green party.
quite a few Marxists still see the way to a revolution as worse conditions, you dont get socialists or Marxists from great conditions in the working class do you anyway I went off topic but I cant stand memes like the one you have used . and wanted to explain why immigration has been a driver of worse conditions especially for the working class in the uk . people ask why were my parents able to buy a house on one wage and I will never be able to, without looking at supply and demand you wont understand why well the green party is also left wing and hes white and male, you will find dozens of very similar memes with white working class males its what the left does
Spain’s tourism minister has met with UK tour operators to discuss contingency plans to ensure millions of British tourists can still visit her country in the event of a no-deal Brexit. Reyes Maroto is holding talks this week with the heads of some of Britain’s biggest travel companies, including Thomas Cook, to draw up proposals in case the UK crashes out of the EU with no withdrawal agreement in place.
And what does the right do? Create a feminist paradise after Brexit? I think not. Nor will they create conditions where you cam buy a house. It'll just be more lies, more excuses when it all goes tits up.
This may be because you have Brexit and people returning to mainland Europe you also are likely to see more unskilled working class jobs . its all supply and demand
as I pointed out the conservative party also has a history of high immigration and not caring about the working class in the uk, both main partys think short term and they are not good for the country
Yeah I know that it was a response to Bills complaint about Buying a house Seems like you just cant win ?? Country is prosperous house prices gonna be high cant afford ! Country is poor nobody can buy a house no money !
Why wouldn't EU people, companies and government protect their interests? Did someone expect otherwise? From your link: Almost everyone is going to feel it in their purse when the UK leaves. It would be stupid not to anticipate. It's not like tourism between the countries would come to a stop. Although.. the UK will almost certainly get less european tourists. The biggest drain will be border checks, importing goods will cost more and your country will have a lack of labourers in certain industries... The biggest disappointment will be 1) the amount of control leave voters think their government will get: on most international policies they still have to work together with the EU. And 2) a lasting economical recession for the UK (one of the aspects were the leave voters were grossly misled).
I recall that in 1970 when I was 13, we went on a road trip from the UK to Italy, via France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria - at every border both leaving and exiting a country passports checked, in some places luggage looked into. It was all very boring and slowed us right down. Long lines of cars waiting to cross. Back to that I guess unless this idiocy gets stopped. Only now there will be more cars waiting, and much longer delays and checks.
In truth, I think that the EC are more afraid of brexit than we are. We import 25 million pounds worth of milk from Ireland every year and clearly they don't want bureaucrats in Brussels to jeopardize their dairy market. Likewise, Spain has never required British visitors to obtain a visa, even long before the EC, but those idiots in Brussels could change all that. I strongly suspect that they are messing their pants at the prospect of other countries jumping ship and their ivory towers starting to fall apart. Before the EC, Airbus was Anglo French. I wonder how they are planning to sort all that mess out.?
@BlackBillBlake The border checks is mainly a problem for importing goods. And yes, the amount of trucks waiting will be a problem. As well as the fact time is money in this branch. It won't be as big of a problem for tourists i thought.
Tough if you took out a mortgage before that happened. You'd be paying more than your house is ever going to be worth again. You'd be in negative equity. And because you house is worth less, generally poorer.
They tried to have a 'practice' traffic jam here a week or so back, but they couldn't even manage to organize that properly. But yes, it will be very bad for exports/imports in every way, not just because of delays. We also get a large proportion of our food from Europe - so maybe some belt tightening will have to happen.
While I would feel sorry for people who have bought property recently and face negative equity, If house prices fell, we would all be better off overall. Our daughter is a London police officer and her partner is a doctor. With an £80,000 combined salary, a house near us in London is still out of the question. All these current house prices are doing will only result in us ending up as the richest people in the graveyard when we die.
Well our goverments in recent decades (tory and new lab)have allowed house price inflation to go through the roof and done nothing to ensure there is affordable housing. 'Help to buy' schemes just push prices up even further, and anyway they exclude those at the bottom of the pile. I think that house prices should be much lower, but it's a hard swallow for home buyers in negative equity, and if brexit goes ahead it will probably get a whole lot worse. Personally, I'm not involved as I rent - but i think a mortgage is a huge burden to have for years and years and if you know the house can never be resold for what you paid it would I imagine be pretty depressing.
