It feels odd to say I used to be foot shy so I used to wear socks 24/7 if I could shower in them I would of lol Thats change for sure since I feel like everyone has seen me barefoot that’s how I feels. The other day I was thinking is it possible to stop going barefoot? Socks used to be so comfortable but now they feel so awful and I Tolerate them for work. I can’t stand wearing socks!
I wear socks and shoes when I want and or need to. I am barefoot most of the time and I wear my shoes without socks mostly. I agree about socks being once comfortable and now not so much.
I could never wear socks or shoes again I have been barefoot for so long over 32 years I even tried flip flops and I can’t wear them either
Because of prevalent climate conditions, I unfortunately don't have a choice at certain times. This past winter has been brutal, my area measured temperatures even as cold as -34 Celsius (-29.2 Fah) during the time of Jan-Feb. Much too dangerous to expose flesh in such conditions, especially if wind chill is added to the mix. Sometimes you just have to accept defeat to barefoot another day. Weather is getting better now, though. Finally April...
Well shoes and socks were invented for very practical reasons. Wear them when needed and go barefoot when they are not needed.
I have some hiking trails that are dangerous for bare feet. and I want to get to the Big Island and the lava flow, so yeah, I could.
I walk barefoot on a lot of things broken glass fishing hooks I have had cactus stuck on the side on my bare feet I have stepped on lit cigarette but I have never had the bottoms of my bare feet get cut open or hurt real bad
Closer to the city, we have homeless encampments, so the usual trash including needles (this wasn’t the case 10 years ago), most of our natural rock is jagged and the crusher fine gravel seems worse. Prickly pear and some trails have non native cholla, courtesy of landscaping. Cholla is a serious cactus. unless I can get deep into forest duff, I’ll protect my soles.
Yikes! Yeah, I can see how picking up C-hepatitis, or even HIV from a druggie's needle wouldn't be fun, really. Definitely not worth the risk. Granite doesn't give an inch. If you land your foot poorly on an inconveniently shaped rock, it'll break your foot bones for sure. *Googles* Damn, those are some serious looking stingers.
Short answer is NO! I am in my early 60's now and have loved being barefoot for as long as I can remember. I have always gone barefoot whenever and wherever I can and as I am getting older the opportunity to be barefoot just increases I went through those crazy years of Covid pretty much barefoot 24/7. Working from home from March 2020 to July 2022 I was barefoot the whole time, even most weekends. Now back in the office two or three days a week it is really hard to wear shoes and socks. They are the first thing to come off when I get home. But, they are essential in an office environment, WFH on the other days is always barefoot! So, shoes and socks when absolutely required otherwise barefoot everywhere
