Some people think that there is already a vibrant interplanetary community. They just choose not to interact with us for moral or practical reasons. Here, you can read all about it for yourself: Zoo hypothesis - Wikipedia

My question is, what if there is only one political entity behind this? In the fictional Star Trek universe there is a federation of planets. It is not the only political organization though. What if there is in reality only one?

I know that there is a tendency for unity among earth governments. We had the Roman Empire. More recently we have a united Europe. There just is a natural tendency to unite politically I think. And it has many benefits. Human (and alien) rights can become more universal that way.

What do the rest of you think about my theory?

Here's the thing. I think the Fermi Paradox is not a paradox. I think one of it's fundamental assumptions is wrong.

This assumption, is that communication across the radio spectrum, is the most advanced and efficient for any society. That's probably hubris.

There is probably some way for an advanced society to transport information instantly which makes it immune from interception, such as quantum teleportation. We'd have no way of observing such a species when you take radio off the table, and we've only had radio for a little over 100 years.

If superluminal travel is impossible we'll probably never meet aliens more advanced than perhaps bacteria on Europa. If it is possible, I do like the zoo hypothesis. There's also the possibility that superluminal travel is prohibitively expensive, Maybe we aren't interesting enough as a species for any aliens which have detected us to attempt it.

The expense of superluminal travel could be enough where diplomacy, research or war aren't worth it. What would an alien cultures reason for attempting to contact us be?

Maybe if there were a really advanced but really dogmatic alien species, they'd try to reach here to spread religion. Praise Blorg Blog!

Zoo hypothesis - Wikipedia is just about speculations and no fact as there is never been any contact with any space aliens. Aliens are always described as much more advanced technologically, but what if it was the opposite and they were in fact low tech guys compare to us? and not able to compete with ours, then simple fear could be the reason they don't contact us...no one knows as no one has ever seen one(beside George Noory on Coast to Coast radio)

If they were perceived to be inferior or benevolent to us we would hunt them down and kill them... like the shmoos...
