Be very careful. Calcium is vital for correct heart function, along with other minerals, we get it from our water supply. Softened water leaves 70 ppm calcium in the water, along with the other minerals, while distillation remove it all. This has the additional problem that distilled water is "hungry" and hence removes vital minerals from our body.

Sounds reasonable to me as long as they don’t take their temperature rectally

And btw: on average a rectal temperature reading in 0.5 degrees higher than an oral reading.
