Covid: Two fined £10,000 over Leeds snowball fight

I suppose I can see the argument from the police, but for me there's something sad about this story. I remember having brilliant fun as a kid having snowball fights. Not much fun to be had in any way these days it seems.

Have you forgotten about the Corona virus ??? have you forgotten social distancing and the wearing of masks ??? The Police were correct in what they did.

In different times and different circumstances, I would agree, but sadly Corona virus is making us all prisoners at the mmoment.

I don't mind sticking to rules as long as politicians and those charged with enforcing them also stick to the rules .There seems to be cases cropping here and there ,where this is not happening and doesn't send home a good message .

Yes, none of them wearing face masks, and none of them obeying the 2 metre separation as required BY LAW !!!

What are you talking about ???? - "Two men who organised a mass snowball fight" - The video you posted has nothing to do with a large scale organised Snowball fight, AND - as the video shows the Manchester Pub is open (and therfore pre-lockdown) means that it is out-dated and not like the Leeds post which was was two days old
    - Seems that it is you who's WRONG - Again

While I agree with you, we all adapt the rules to some extent without putting others at risk. If the shop is crowded, Jane or I just go home and return later. Why people are not advised to walk on the left hand side of main roads to avoid passing people walking in the opposite direction still puzzles me. It would be so simple and inconvenience no one.

What additional harm was Boris doing riding his bike a few miles from home on deserted streets, rather than riding round and round the block.
It seems as if the media will do anything for a story. My question is why they seemed to feel that they were above the law while following him.

Look on the bright side. While Vlad is sitting at home and posting on HF he is keeping safe. I think that not being able to get out for his morning walks is getting him down, I imagine that he is well known in his local community and enjoys the social aspect of his walk more than the exercise.
This is happening to a lot of older people, particularly if they live alone.

The problem with Vlad's posts is they are Negative, Cynical and Rude.
His (often one-post) threads are one thing - and he is fully entitled to do so, but when he posts nasty comments - often without substance - then, one reaps what one sows

Reminds me of an article about 2 women who were going for a walk together social distancing; which was within the rules, but thye were arrested as they had a cup of coffee each and that was classed as a 'picnic'. its absolutely ludicrous :/

Thought for a second you were going to say it was 'two women walking a-breast'. Sorry for the pun.

Do you know the full story and did it come from the UK.?
In suburban areas, few people wear a mask walking along quiet streets until they get to the high street and enter the shops.
With such low revenue from advertising, the media will publish almost anything that will increase their readership both on paper and online.

This story puzzles me and makes little sense. If they were from the same household, they would not need to distance. Assuming that they were not from the same household, then how were they going to drink the coffee through their masks.? Having bought it, were they going to go their separate ways.?
If the arrest part of the story is true, I suspect that they drew attention to themselves by wandering around a busy area for far longer than necessary.
Police would not just arrest someone out of the blue, unless they had drawn attention to themselves in the past and probably already been warned that they were bending the rules too far.

I delayed my reply until I spoke to our daughter and she confirms that a small handful of people think that risking overwhelming the hospitals that would cause UNNECESSARY deaths is a huge joke.
Police know the day to day situation, so yes, if the hospitals in the area are near breaking point they do get the idiots off the streets.
Although her division cover a busy part of London, Christina has not needed to arrest a single person since the outbreak of covid.
Needless to say, she still arrests the regular criminals now and again, but for minor offence, particularly being drunk, even they frequently end up with fines and warnings to keep covid out of the police cells and vehicles.

You don't so much get to me in that you wind me up.
I do however feel sorry, for you in that despite yours years of (so-called) experience, you fail to have grasped the educational capacity to engage and communicate in a constructive manner.
You fail to comprehend that whilst you may not agree with the opinion of a.n.other, they have a right to say and believe it. Your reaction to such is inconsiderate, discourteous and disrespectful
As you say - I accept that you are far too old to change - you are what you are

We can all be described as 'Grumpy', but when it is within the forum of engagement within a social networking site, the interaction of conversational debate and discourteous ranting depicts; I feel, ones calibre of character - and therein lies the difference :)
