Anyone who is under the influence of anything, even prescription drugs, has no business driving. Cops, I have met some great ones and a few that were not, just like in any other profession. I do think attitude goes a long way on both sides and how they approach and you do can make a difference in reactions.
There's a lot of people who have no business driving, including many old people, but nobody is pulling them over and arresting them for being senile.
That it holds true for the majority is why it makes sense to not do it. But if you insist you know everything better you should just go on and get pulled over again :mickey: I'm not saying it solely from my own perspective. If you have your own road go drive stoned on it all you want, if you go out in the public in your car take normal precautions (like staying sober)... or pay the consequences without whining
In those cases you are probably not going to harm anyone else, that is the difference. I personally do not really care what people do or what they pick as their personal poison, as well all have one. I do care when they put others at risk because of it.
If that is your best argument, it is a really sad one. You do realise that Seniors do have to be tested after a certain age? I quite frankly do not know many senile seniors that are still driving.
It's that simple :sunny: So yes, I would also shit on a person that trips for the first time in a foreign city and get so screwed up that he bothers everyone around him. And yes, you can walk around in the public stoned just fine (even if you might be one of those that get quite annoying when stoned in a crowd )
I'm with pr on the driving stoned thing. Weed doesn't really impair your reaction time, your vision, your judgment like alcohol does - not even close.
Not like alcohol does, but it certainly does impair your reaction time in it's own way! It can also easily influence your judgement and vision... Just because alcohol is worse doesn't mean weed is always ok.
As far as this debate goes.. There is no real answer.. EVERY person is different. EVERY person is a different type of driver, and EVERY person is affected differently by both drugs and alcohol. I have driven drunk at least 1000 times. Shit house hammered? No, but blowing well above a .08 yes. Every time i go out to eat I order atleast 2 beers or glasses of wine. this technically means i shouldnt be driving for about 3 hours... Im also a heavy drinker though, alcohol doesnt effect me like normal people. Example. Weed makes newbie pass out, while the pothead doesnt feel tired at all... Same with alcohol a non drinker can be stumbling around after a few drinks, while personally i would need atleast 30 shots of various different liquors to "stumble" Bottom line, it is each drivers responsibility to think if he is impaired before he gets behind the wheel. Also being impaired and driving "safely" is ok in my opinion. What most people think of drunk driving is. "Billy bob ran a redlight at 90 mph killing a family of four and he didnt even spill his natty light" Yeah these guys shouldnt be drinking and driving but its not as much the alcohol i think as the person whos careless enough to not give a shit... When i drink and drive. I speed to the exact limit.. i put on cruise control.. and i drive 100 times safer than if i was sober.
I don't drive drunk but I've been driving high for years and i have a flawless driving record. I wouldn't get behind the wheel if I felt I was endangering other people. If I feel like getting really stoned I do it when I don't have to go anywhere but I feel like taking a hit or two and then driving isn't going to impair me any more than drinking one beer and driving.
People who drive under the influence are scum bags in my book. And back to the original topic: Does doing shots make anybody cool? Yeah, that question is rhetorical.
Yeah, and I'm sure you've never "driven under the influence" before. Anyone who goes out to a fucking bar or dinner and has more than a drink or two then drives home afterward is "driving under the influence."
All the more reason to have a good attitude and stfu. You're right, you were probably too cooperative. Never tell the cops more then you have to and never ever volunteer any information, especially if your obviously guilty. At that point you should probably invoke your right to remain silent. You wanna hear a story about some dick cops? I was in Mexico and this cop came up to me, picked up an old beer bottle off the ground and arrested me for drinking in public. And when I didn't have enough money to pay him off I spent 2 days in jail and had to walk and hitch hike back to the US border. After dealing with cops like that American cops aint shit.
