I would probably suspect the majority of Nazi soldiers were, in their personal lives probably regular people, nice guys with loving families. But the system they were part of was wicked, and while that system existed, they were a building block of that system. As the sword of the status quo, it doesn't matter how nice or mean a cop is. The sysyem which they support is wicked.
I once read that some US States assigned a different coloured license plate to the vehicle of a driver who's been convicted of a/multiple duis. Is this true? If so, that seems like a pretty good system to me. You endanger the public and are therefore publicly shamed. Also lets people know to stay the hell away from you on the road.
Not even sure why I'm replying to this because this is probably just going to turn into a drunk driving debate.. But I have to say, if I was a cop and pulled a drunk person over, I'd probably treat them like a piece of shit. I'm not saying I'd beat them or anything, but I feel like I might be rude to them. I have no sympathy for drunk drivers. You're putting other people's lives at risk. Children's lives at risk. Not cool. Driving drunk is selfish. All of the cops I've ever come in contact with were actually cool, just doing their job, treated me well. And this has been said time and time again, those same people that are saying "fuck the police" and all that, well what about when you're really in need one day and need some help, you're not going to call the cops? Fuck them, right? Just obey the laws and I think you should be fine. Of course there are going to be some assholes in any line of work. I have to wonder how many bad cop stories are fabricated...
No they don't do that here... it's just a misguided proposal that would basically amount to a violation of the double jeopardy clause of the fifth amendment.
The hospital's up, a couple of blocks, I'm on my way but damn, here comes a couple of cops; I pulled out and started blowin they started blowin back I'm goin all out I ain't holdin back, I been to jail once and I ain't goin back I kept shootin, one shot caught a cop dead in his top
Well, I wasn't arrested for drunk driving, but because I was smoking weed, as I have done for most of my life (including while driving). The sobriety tests showed I wasn't impaired, but my car reeked of weed when I rolled down the window, and I admitted to the officer that I had been smoking, since I figured he smelled it already. Plus there's the drug test that came back positive for cannabis. Some people who get pulled over for driving under the influence -- whether it be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs -- deserve to be arrested, since they are truly impaired and a danger to others on the road. However, some people are arrested simply because they have imbibed but might not be impaired any more than a person who got 1 or 2 hours less sleep than they needed. Since most cops are out to meet a quota and rake in money, little discernment is used when it comes to determining whether a person is truly impaired or not. If they think they can nab you, they will. In the end, it's nothing more than a money grab, and the system couldn't give fuck all about drunk drivers on the road. It's just another excuse to draw in money and trample people's constitutional rights.
Well, I think it'd be too much trouble to determine just how drunk or just how high someone is. Plus, people have different tolerance levels. So I think it's a better idea for people to just keep their drug use and alcohol consumption at home. Then there's no problems.
In response to that last little bit of your post; I think the situation is a little different here in Canada. They do care, but the reason is still money.. People who drink and drive and cause accidents and bodily harm place an unnecessary financial strain on our social health care system. Naturally the government doesn't want this.
Just FYI... Alcohol impairs driving more than marijuana http://www.newscientist.com/article...driving-more-than-marijuana.html#.UxyiJc6jJxA "A single glass of wine will impair your driving more than smoking a joint. And under certain test conditions, the complex way alcohol and cannabis combine to affect driving behavior suggests that someone who has taken both may drive less recklessly than a person who is simply drunk."
Okay thanks. I use medical marijuana and am all for legalization of marijuana and for the use of marijuana but just keep that use at home.
... I enjoy being high at home. Deep thoughts, I write a lot, then I start to feel drowsy, which I need, because I have horrible insomnia. Then I enjoy such a peaceful sleep. Not a waste at all.
Except that doesn't happen to most people who smoke weed unless they're newbies or complete lightweights. Marijuana actually increases your awareness, unlike alcohol, which has the exact opposite effect.
I'm sorry but if you are trying to say people drive better while stoned you're crazy or just trying to fool yourself. It may count for a very small percentage (I think I know 1 person for who it may count) but most get more distracted behind the wheel on marijuana. Wether you like to admit it or not you are always taking a risk when you go drive under the influence on a public road.
