I think we idealize everything. From the beginning, we make falling in love and finding "the one" a priority, an necessity. every relationship is seen as it until you find out differently.
People push kids to grow up quickly, move on with their lives, become independent, fall in love, have kids. Hurry up, get old and die. I call bullshit.

 

I have to say that our education system needs a huge overhaul. I hope that Barack Obama can see this and do something about it but as history will tell us, it's hard to move mountains. There are so many special intrest groups that keep the system down. There are special intrest groups like the PTA which does almost nothing to help our education system, if anything they make it worse by not being progressive enough. There is the teachers unions that let teachers work that don't even have a degree. Or, for example just because they have been working as a teacher for 20 years that they think they don't need to learn how to teach today's kids. I think that teachers need to have to go back to school on a regular basis, how about for the couple of months they are off from school. I am not saying that I have the answers. I also think that teachers should be some of the highest paid professionals, but they should not just get a raise I think they need to earn it as well. I could go on but I don't want to get worked up. I have to pay to send my child to a private school because the school system in the area she lives with her mother is one of the worst. I worry about my child's education. I wish I could send her to public school. However, most public schools teach to slower students and don't focus on the students that can work at a faster pace. They don't want to have students at different levels. It's all about creating the Sheeple. No child left behind was one of the worst education reforms ever.

they changed prereqs for next year so to take trig, instead of needing an 80% i only need a 70% which means i can take trig if i get a 76% on my final. though this owuldn't be a problem if i'd actually tried, but whatever. and if i get an 80% in trig i can take pre-calc

aaand they lowered the requirements for physics from needing to take trig to only needing to take algebra 2, which means i can take that too

and they offer a disasters course! like learning about volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and that shit. which will be absolutely awesome, since i'm looking to double major in vulcanology and seismology. i'm excited

but it sucks because instead of doing a pro-con project in english as out graduation requirement, it changed for next year to taking a totally different course for some kind of 'team building' shit thats required to graduate and we have to take senior english, which isn't like this years which was just a huge research project, its world literature, which i'd rather do a research project.

but my general outlook for next year is good, assuming i get a 76%+ on my final.

 

I was just in Milwaukee a few months ago. I spent the weekend and I could have spent a couple of weeks. I will have to go back. Talk about a lot of history. Yeah, there is a lot of places that have Miller products but you can also find other types of beers, if you look had enough. For example there are some really good German Restaurants that sell good German Beer as well. A lot of brew style restaurants up there also. I think that has to do with Miller as well. If you don't want to rock the ship then sell something that was made on site. There is a great brewing tradition up there and I had a lot of fun doing the tours. Hell, I still have some pictures on my phone. I am wondering what the Miller / Coors merge will do to Milwaukee.

 

I may have to make a road trip just to see this. I love Coke in the bottle, nothing like a cold one of those. I also like that we get the Mexican Coke here. All the little ethnic stores carry it. It is made using the real orignal formula using cain suger and not corn syrup. Yum. The closest you will ever come to the real Coke I remember and love. I remember when they change that whole thing around back in the COKE 2 days. Talk about a marketing mistake. Who knows it could have been their plan the whole time to increase their sales. I love a good conspiracy theroy.

welp you guys, i'm headin back to school right now.. i still don't have a computer, and probably wont for another week or two. i'll miss it here and probably be bored half the time now since i can't get on the forums hahah!

Congratulations! I am glad for you that they made it less hard to achieve your goals. I am very happy for your, really, it's just that you made my point about our education systems and how fucked up they are. Feel free to read my previous posts. It was funny that you happened to mention this in the middle of my tyrade on education. Instead of getting you to work harder they just make it more easy for everyone. When I was in school a 76 was a C grade and 70 was a C- and you had to have a B in order to be able to get those specialty classes you wanted. I am not trying to rail on you I am just using you to make my point. I already know you are intelligent. I hope I did not offend you.

i'm trying to do well now, since i made some really bad decisions in the past about my schoolwork (long story short, i used to be a distinguished honor roll student then my ex came along and i let him lead me astray from my sense of self and he convinced me not to try at all that he could provide for me (and i was in like 9th grade lol) so in 3 years i pretty much fucked up and now that its what i'm used to its hard to get out of this habit) and i'm really glad that they lowered them though because its what i need to achieve my own personal success.

I know very well how easy it is to stray to the dark side. For me it was my drivers licence. Once I was moble I let everything else go for a while. When I moved I ended up leaving public school and going back to private school and get back on track myself. I was in honors classes as well. I am glad for you and your success. Good Luck.
