i agree. IMO and i stress IMO. alot of people on here get dreads try to get into a hippie mentality and automatically assume the system is evil. Granted it's not perfect, we should be grateful we live in a nation with a civilized society and the majority of people have a roof over their head, food to eat, and hospitals to go to should they get sick. I can't speak for our neighbours to the south, but the Country I live in is pretty sweet. I would take it over a third world nation any day

It isn't being negative it is about seeing the truth and stop believing the lies you here from the government.

What about all that nasty processed food and chemicals they put in there? I suppose it is in the food to make it healthier? Or am I wrong when they add things like MSG, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Modified Food/Protein Starch.... it is because the food companies are too cheap to give consumers real ingredients and would rather make a higher profit?

I too agree that herbal remedies aren't always the best for everyone but I am highly against most medications. Even antibiotics and stuff like that. And I am COMPLETELY against giving infants/babies vaccinations.

ftr, i completely applaud any efforts of anyone to cure diseases, heal injuries and prolong peoples lives. if i was in a situation where i relied on doctors and drugs for my existence, i would be thankful for such things, and i am thankful that people who actually need them have access to them.
ive been to the emergency room plenty of times and have had injuries healed in a skillful and compassionate manner.
that sort of thing isnt what im talking about here.

herbal medicine works all right for minor ailments I just find that I fell like slapping someone when they suggest that it would be able to cure cancer

Pat, I totally agree with you on the two tier policy. I think if people want to pay for "better" medicine, then Canada should benefit from it financially rather than Canadians taking their money to other countries to get the surgery that they want. I think Japan and Switzerland have models that Canada could learn from. BUT, I think our system is way better than most.

And doc shortages are everywhere. I was on a wait list for two years in NB before I found a doc. I didn't even have a GP for the birth of my first son, I had to use a clinic. In Alberta there seems to be more because of how they run their "clinics". And nothern Ontario... grew up there and know all too well about hunting them down... Perhaps we need to look at a different model rather than pushing for more doc's (clinics, nurse practioners, etc).

But back to the pharm companies. ARG! Yes, there is big money to be made.. that's why there are generic drugs at a pharmacy and then the namebrand one that costs much more. These are the pills behind the counter. So you can get your Pepsi version or the No Name version. The Pepsi versions cost a heck of a lot more.

And doctors always have trials in their office... You don't think the doc receives a kick back for handing them out? Pharm companies are all about the bottom line and not about people which as Pat said is like just about every other business, but there is a huge difference. These companies are playing with the lives of others.

    Great discussion. :)

I do'nt think it has anything to do with this forum. lol Perhaps your opinion is right about how people get into the mentality, but I cant' imagine that most people base their opinions on this forum. lol At least I hope not. But ya, Canada freakin rocks! ANd I will take the good with the bad cuz our good is pretty damn freakin good. I just wish we owned an island in some place hot. :/

that is possibly one of the stupidest things i have ever heard. do you have any idea what would happen if the majority of people did this, it would be like living in the dark ages, there is a very minor chance that those vaccinations may increase the risk of autism in the first six months and they make sure not to give it to any that are high risk for it. im sure there is many children out there today today that are alive thanks to them, the slight risks greatly outweigh the benefits.

My son was one of those "slight risks". Not so slight in our case.

Just wondering... do you avoid these then? Cuz I remember ou saying that you spent a low amount of money on groceries per month. I have no clue how you do it if you avoid these types of foods. Then again, maybe you are much better at doing food from scratch than I. (lol I don't)

if your son was in that risk catagory, then its a good idea he didnt get them but that does not mean everyone should not get the vacine

My son WAS vaccinated. And we are still paying the price.

What it means is that there should be a CHOICE. Even if that choice is not getting him immunized and therefore he cant attend school. That is OUR choice. put whatever you want into your body.

im not going to get into vaccination debate simply because i dont know enough about it (i will do plenty of research once i have a baby) but it seems to me that us in the developed world dont need to worry very much about vaccinations. at least not enough to risk such little babies by exposing them to the crap in vaccines. better to just take common sense precautions throughout life imo.
and vaccinations for things like the flu seem ridiculous to me, unless your at high risk of dying if you get a flu.
small infections make your body and immune system stronger for god sake.

word. my family doctor once told me the best way to make a child's immune system strong is to let him play in the mud and get dirty.

sounds like one of the good ones lol.
it boggles my mind to see parents raising kids in the most sterile environment possible. and they wonder why their kids end up with allergies or the occasional really bad infection from super-bacteria.

qft. I agree. My kids are super healthy and our home and the environment we live in would never be described as sterile.

As for contraception... my wife and I have practiced the rythm / cycle method for twenty years. It works great! We have seven children. Hahaha.
