I have an Android that I bought direct from Verizon, it was $99 and did its job and I still have it. The Galaxy ones are cool but pricey. But for all practicality my Amazon Fire is a nice little tablet that has it all. Good luck with your search!
You're very welcome Mike! I don't know how much you use Amazon, but everything comes packed with all your Amazon stuff, (movies, music books) pre-loaded.
Mainly looking up info on the internet and putting the social media stuff on there as well. Stuff I do on my phone but will be easier to type and read on a bigger screen
I would always suggest buying last years model. Not only is it half the price, but it has also had the teething problems ironed out. It is better to get a SSD (solid state hard drive) if possible, since mechanical drives are becoming less reliable by the week and draw more power from the battery. The rest depends on buying a model with features that you will actually use, rather than what the salesman wants to sell you. I have heard good reports on the IPad from someone who uses it for business, but since it was supplied by her employer, she did not have to worry about the cost.
Take a look at this company. Scan are one of the largest suppliers of computer equipment to businesses in the UK and are not attached to any manufacturers, so they simply supply what you need. Although they may not supply US models and you would probably not deal with them anyway, Their straightforward listing of what is available and a guide to features and prices may be of interest. When I saw some of the prices, I nearly fell off my chair. I have spent that sort of money building servers for small companies. LOL. Windows Tablets | SCAN UK
That site has a lot of good info. I will have to check out further. Thank you for forwarding. Would not want to be the repair guy when that goes down !
LOL, I only design and build the hardware, as long as the power is on, the rest is up to the programmers. That picture is one of more than 100 lanes in a building the size of a factory. The whole system consumes more power than the output of a small power station. This is the cooling system for the processors. Can you guess who owns the server array.??????
You should have guessed. It is the main server array for Google, covering their search engine and You-Tube. This facility is in Finland, The US have about 10 similar servers. The latest ones are built offshore in order to use sea water for cooling. My work was on the power supply and cooling towers for their UK plant.
That is so way over my head but very interesting to see what goes on behind the scene to keep things working
Every part of these buildings are designed by specialist engineers and serviced by teams of specialist technicians. I doubt that their is anyone on the planet who has an in depth knowledge of how the whole system works.
i still haven't figured out the benefit of a tablet. it seems to me like a cumbersome phone, or a less user friendly computer. i'm not saying that tablets are bad, i just haven't figured out a good application for them yet.
