I think history has given us the answer. When people don't have motivation to better themselves, they won't, and the standard of living goes to shit when the gov't can't afford to provide for the people.

I personaly, support Marxist Communism. Some people twist the words of Marx, but when you realize the true meaning behind his words, communism makes more sense.
In theory Communism is great.. but when you apply it, it gets twisted, and it would never work unless everybody wants it. I don't think they should impose communism onto people, they should choose it.
I think it's a beautiful idea...Give or take I think it's the best form of government...I just don't see it ever working...It just get's too fucked up. For example, Karl Marx's theories were lovley, but when they were enforced it got very ugly... Of course I think the same about democracy...beautiful idea, just doesn't work...or for that matter all forms of government are around those lines in my opinion...
That's hard to explain from my veiwpoint. Someone here surely belives in it, they'll pipe up soon enough.
Well, if you want somwhat a DIFFERENT explanation of what communism is, then check out COMMUNISM WITH THE MASK OFF by JOSEGH GOEBBELS. It is available from http://www.third-reich-books.com But to be fair you should also read THE COMMUNIST MANIFESTO by Marx/Engels. (DAS KAPITAL is too long!) - I've alwats believed one should read BOTH sides, esp. ORIGINAL SOURCE MATERIAL. (Preferably in the ORIGINAL LANGUAGE). Be a little careful with books ABOUT something written by SOMEBODY else you EXPLAINS how "great" or how "terrible" it is.
I think its a pretty kewl idea...but when a single person has all the power this is where the more power they have the more they want...so like people said it gets twisted in their own way...not the way it was suppose to be...
We all pretty much are the leaders of our own government in every other aspect of life, it's time for it to come full circle.
Well basically, in Communism everyone is treated according to their needs. Businesses are owned by the government, and the money that is made from the companies are given to the government who distribute it back to the people. But its obviously more complicated than that.
Well yes, it is important to look into both sides of an issue. But reading Goebbels does not fit into this idea. In case you are unware, Joseph Goebbels was Hitler's head for propaganda. Besides which in his speech "communism with the mask off" Goebbles supposedly is responding to communism but is in fact responding to Stalinist Bolshivism. Anyhow, here are some excerpts from Goebbles' speech. Keepin mind that the Stalinist regime was probably the most horribly evil, vile, and brual tyrrany ever. Keep in mind also the Goebbels blames it essentially on the Jews and is also able to make Stalinsim sound even more horrendous than it actually was.. "But the Bolshevics carry on a campaign, directed by the Jews, with the international underworld, against culture as such. Bolshevism is not merely anti-bourgeois; it is against human civilisation itself." "In its final consequences it [communism] signifies the destruction of all the commercial, social, political and cultural achievements of Western Europe, in favour of a deracinated and nomadic international cabal which has found its representation in Judaism" "But underneath the false mask which it here and there assumes there are always the satanic forces of world destruction" "brutal and merciless domination of this madly-led apparatus of State and Party at the hands of a small terrorist minority which is mostly Jewish" "Bolshevism is the declared enemy of all nations and of all religions and of all human civilisation" Here is a link to the full text of the speech http://www.calvin.edu/academic/cas/gpa/goeb58.htm
