the saddest part of the letter being, Don't tell your Dad." Unfortunately - I've been there, done that. My brothers, who are pretty homophobic, but grudgingly accepted my being gay, just warned me if it didn't kill him, I would be disinherited if I told my father. I didn't. Actually my older brother never accepted it: we have communicated about once a year since. (over 20 years)
That has to be a very bad feeling. I can't imagine how bad that would feel having strangers feel that way, much less family.
