I provided the links of the sources. The numbers were total crimes reported, including petty theft and corporate crimes and violent crimes, everything. Each site had more specific breakdowns if you are interested. The breakdown of the different types of crimes were not grouped the same on the two sites so it was actually more accurate to just use overall numbers. Now the difference between "registered crimes" and "reported crimes" is more a difference in terms used in each report/country, but I assume mean the same thing. I'm curious about the huge range increase for Iceland compared to the U.S. Iceland ranged by 1.79 while the U.S. was only .7, so their murder rate wildly increased and ours stayed relatively the same, right? Really those numbers look rather similar to me if I factor in things such as population and population density. Seriously, America has 100 times the population than Iceland, so I honestly think these numbers, what I presented and what you presented, show that overall Iceland does have more of a crime problem than the U.S. It just appears to be less of a problem because we have 100 TIMES AS MANY PEOPLE! Why is that so hard to comprehend???????? So, in the most simplistic fashion, just multiply Iceland's stats by 100 and maybe we would then be comparing apples to apples.
Easier to get up close and personal, and out of range..... but much harder to disarm or put them in a painful hold that prevents them from firing. But yeah, if anyone had shells literally falling on their face, as I read, well fuck, did waiting for him to reload, then socking him in the nose n' kicking him in the balls, not occur to these people? Beats the hell outta being shot. America, the subdued atriot:
Fucked though, especially with kids in the theatre. Why cant these a-holes shoot up a whole bunch of bad guys if they want to do stuff like this
it's crazy! How much more shootings have to take place ? how many lives taken? Stop.selling.guns It doesn't make you safer. It is not your god-given right or whatever you think it is. It is no coincidence if there are much more shootings in the usa then in any other part of the world who is not in a civil war.
why is everyone talking about this stupid, shitty story. how about this one? http://abcnews.go.com/US/tuscaloosa...fle-17-injured/story?id=16793102#.UAqPpd0lqSg
Americas population is greater, mix that with easy access to breaking news all throughout the country and it may seem as though it is on the rise. I haven't noticed any increase in the amount of serial killings reported in america, I'm still not willing to concede that there are more acts of random violence like the theater shooting last friday than there was say ten or even twenty years ago. Now that says nothing as to the body counts the shooters produce. But the act itself is nothing new.
Have they been able to get into his apartment yet? If they do get in he probably has no evidence around anyways, if he went through the trouble of rigging the place up im sure he went through to trouble of hiding any evidence of why he did this.
I'm still waiting for word on his online accounts. Bet he had a Facebook and other accounts. Maybe a whole website about his sick mind. He probably has a LOT of info on his computer and that's why he wanted to blow his place up.
I doubt it, you want to know why he went crazy? He was going to be a successful person, he started his PHD in neurology and you know what happened. He had to drop out of school with a degree and still couldn't find a job. He spent the remainder of his time after college working at McDonalds, that alone is enough to drive a person insane. That picture is so biased, if you saw him during graduate school you could see he was a smart kid.
Yes, I believe this is yet a Second case where a student with a LOT OF DEBT, can no longer pay their tuition and then goes on a shooting spree. What they are doing to College students these days is a CRIME! They are forcing them to take out HUGE loans that they are unlikely to be able to pay back even in their 50s! The College Tuition Bubble is the latest scam by the banks to make it look like they have more assets than they do. Since the banks and the FED are desperate to print more money, they can only do it if Americans take out more debt. Thus the Tuition Bubble, which has doubled tuition at American colleges in just a few years! There is now more Student Debt than Credit Card Debt! And unlike credit cards, student loan debt is NEVER FORGIVEN. You have Obama and the dems to thank for keeping the interest rates on student loans from doubling as well. Expect more dramatic mass-murders/suicides from students in the future.
Enjoying all the people who weren't there questioning why no one tackled the shooter. Gotta love internet tough guys. Talk is cheap.
While I don't disagree with you, I do think that the vast majority of the population endures shitty circumstances at some point in their lives without completely ignoring basic human morality and empathy. A person that can kill 12 innocent people and injure many more has a lot more going on in their head than just student loan debt and a fast food job. If I'm wrong about that I don't want to live in this fucked up society anymore. Life doesn't guarantee anyone shit and it never has, and the fact that someone didn't receive their lie of an American dream doesn't give anyone the right to kill innocent people
let's look at those sources. by the source you site, the overall number of crimes in iceland in 2010 was 2,300.6/per 10,000. that's not even close to the figure that you site of 73,525. further, that statistic includes traffic violations, drug offenses, and all other non-violent crimes. Shows that you have to apply a little thought and logic and look at the REAL stats, not just perceived stats. :smilielol5: your argument is pathetic, but more funny than pathetic the average murder rate per 100,000 in iceland from 2000-2009 was .59. the average in the us was 5. the murder rate in the us was more than 8.4 times higher than in iceland. stop being pathetic, and just admit you were wrong. like i said, stop being pathetic. the stats are presented per 100,000. if you would like to introduce a new argument, that while the us murder rate is 8.4 times higher than iceland's per 100,000, that difference is accounted for by population density, be my guest. go get stats also comparing land mass per person, or compare urban areas with the highest murder rates in each country with similar populations and area. then get back to me. what's evident is that you a) are not man enough to admit that you are wrong b) are not decent enough to apologize for insulting what i had to say
