I don't gamble, never really have, neither do I loan money to people, it can destroy friendships. I had a good friend once, we'd known each other for years and one day he asked me to lend him a tenner until Friday, iirc this was on a Tuesday, he promised faithfully he'd give it back but on Friday I never saw him, he stopped going into the pub and I began to get worried when the following week I'd not heard from him, not worried about the tenner, worried about him, he wasn't answering his phone of anything.It was several weeks later when I finally ran into him and he tried to avoid me then! I asked him why he'd been avoiding me and he said it was because on the Friday he hadn't got the money to give me, things were never the same between us after that, I wasn't bothered about the money, tbh I'd have given it to him, what upset me was the way he kept avoiding me rather than telling me he just hadn't got the money.
