its because there is more money in Cocaine/Coca plantations.. Why would the farmers grow coffee, when they get more for coca paste?..
ten or twelve bucks for a pound of good beans here, I think. I couldn't live without it. If you want to be self-sufficient about your caffeine, yaupon holly and related plants have caffeine and related chemicals, and can be made rather good. Roast the leaves in a pan untill browned, along with mint, and use like tea when ready, though prefferably immediatly. A nursery should have, or be able to get it. Or mate is quite good, and not too expensive, though I don't know how much it takes to make a cup.
I have no proof, but I've heard coffee prices are going to be dropping by the end of the year. There was a spike because of crops doing poorly, but they are starting to thrive again. The thing that gets me is that none of the major coffee brands sell a full pound anymore. A can of Folgers is 11oz now.
Glen, this is random and surprised me a lot...but the GloriaJeans plunger coffee for sale in the supermarkets here in Oz is actually realllllly good! I never would have expected that - considering how crap the coffee in their cafes is - but give it a go. Can't remember how much it costs though - probably about the same as $12.90. I also buy coffee without checking the price, it's as nessercary as breathing and I don't wanna know how much I am spending!
Its because Gus Gorman tricked the satellite to burn the crops for Ross Webster and then Superman made it snow as shit... seriously..
I actually switched from whole bean to instant. I drink Nescafe' Suave. It's a mixture of expresso and regular coffee, it's strong and yummy and tastes fucking great with my hazelnut coffee creamer. Not to mention I get a fresh cup every time and I don't have to deal with a fucking coffee maker anymore.
