I suggest that u learn to sew...invest in a 200 dollar sewing machine...it's really not that hard....and it's quite enjoyable...it doesn't take that long to make things either....visit my gallery to see some pics of cute hippy clothes...
if we wore the only pants that they had in thrift stores, we'd be walking around in tapered Levi's that go to our boobs, and stretchy stirrup pants. i dont like thrift stores as much mainly for the fact that theyre all early 90's rejects.
i love thrift stores...you can find some nice things there if you look. but it is not for everyone. YAY FOR SEWING!
true that, sis. Go to the men's side. I score jeans for myself, my spouse and my almost teen son ( a month and a half to go and the attitude is in full bloom) within two racks. Make the special trip for St Vincent DePaul, Sally Alley, Goodwill, and find what others sprout in your region. I'd hit the stores maybe four times a year and get almost everything covered. For me, the trip was an hour and a half round trip driving...on interstates. I also walk down the skirt aisle feeling the clothes while looking at hem length. if it is cotton, silk or linen and long enough, I'll look at it. similar thing on shirts. they have to pass a touch test first.
I'm making a patchwork skirt right now, lots of squares to sew together! i'll post a picture when i'm done, it's my first skirt i've done with minimal help from grandma!
i have to go shopping for some fabric for the holidays...hubby and i are planning on making gifts this year
