Fear of nudity is more common in the US than a lot of other places. In Europe, it wasn't uncommon for me to see a pair of tits openly displayed on a billboard. It's crazy that we've become so conservative, even the act of breastfeeding in public is often looked at with disgust.
to necropost is absolutely perverse. pulling out a body part and expelling fluid is almost exactly the same as pulling out a body part and expelling fluid.
Breast milk is for nurturing an infant... providing the #1 thing a mom can do for her baby. Urination is simply expelling a bodily fluid that has little to no value to anyone. The comparison was perverse, not the act.
ok, how's this: to neg rep someone for having an opinion that differs from your own is absolutely perverse. so, since daisymelan thinks that is the purpose of our fine rep system, i suggest everyone on here who disagrees with anything she posts ever should deal her some negative reputation points. don't make stupid emotion based arguments; they rarely help your cause. the value of the fluid is meaningless. you have to urinate; you kind of have to breastfeed but there is no actual biological need to do so; it can be gotten around. both consist of pulling out part of your body and shooting liquid out of it. the act is almost exactly the same, and urination is just slightly more necessary. i'd rather drink breastmilk than piss, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the argument and was just thrown in as a distraction since you have nothing intelligent to say on the subject.
Even if I was allowed to walk around naked out in public, I wouldn't. No one should have to see all of this. :ack2:
I think because genitals have juices which can spread diseases. I don't want to be exposed to stranger's genital scum. Besides, clothes are cool.
Really, would you actually WANT everybody to be walking around naked? I mean seriously. I certainly wouldn't.
Woah! lol Never expected this. Neg rep me all you like. lol I thought that this was what the rep system was for... if you agree with someone you give them a +, if you don't, you give them a -. I'm sorry if I misunderstood this precious rep system of HF. lol Actually, I have only used it a handful of times. You would likely find it funny that I was nominated by a few folk for the most peaceful member on a subforum of the site. lol As for why I did it... I felt like you were shaming breastfeeding. Breastfeeding moms have tons to go through and fight for that to me what you said was just another example of people harming the most beneficial thing a mother can physically provide for their child. I breastfed my two kids and to compare what I was able to provide for them as piss... well, that is just insulting. I have been told to my face to take my kid to the bathroom and sit on the toilet and nurse them. As you have read in this thread, many ppl find it unhygienic to just be naked.... and this person was telling me to sit on a toilet and feed my son... Ugh! I think disagreement is an ok thing, but I felt like you were talking poorly about breastfeeding so I responded accordingly. We are both twisting the words to suit our purpose... I am not arguing that they are both fluids, yet that is your argument. Yes, I agree, they are both fluids that come from the human body. And yes, I am an emotional being... thank goodness.
i was under the impression that the rep system was in place to point out people who were just assholes versus people who posted well thought out, meaningful posts, but that's just my interpretation vs. yours, and i don't think that's really relevant at this point. it was in no way my intention to shame breastfeeding. i am all for breastfeeding, and i am also all for personal freedom so even if i wasn't for breastfeeding i would still support your right to do it. i'm logical to a fault. i was just trying to point out that logically, there is little to no difference between whipping it out one way and whipping it out another way, even though women who pull their boobs out to feed a baby are heroes and guys who have to take a piss either in the bushes or their pants are branded for life as sex offenders... but i do see where you're coming from here, and i don't think we actually disagree as much as we initially seemed to. truce? :cheers2:
Nudity is not disgusting, by any means, and those who have a big problem with the human body have guilt issues to work through. That being said, to view clothing as oppressive or evil is silly. There are a plethora of reasons why we have it. Weather/Climate, Decoration, Status, Personalization, and Modesty are all good reasons. Where I live, it is legal for women to be topless, and it is not a popular trend at all. There are communities and designated areas established for individuals (Possibly like the OP?) who believe in celebrating and living a nudist lifestyle, which is a fab idea.
