Clinton is also using African American popular media figures now to push votes at the last minute. It's very hard to believe she has a lead against Sanders right now. According to 'the polls' Clinton has a 7% lead against Sanders and a 7% lead over Trump. Of course, that's comparative to the many republican candidates. Probably not much of a reasonable comparison between the two parties. But 7% over Bernie Sanders?! This is Hillary Clinton we're talking about. Are people really that blind to the shit she's already stepped in and the (toilet) paper trail flailing from her shoes??? I really didn't think she covered up what she did that well, but apparently....... Also worth noting, 13% of democratic polls are undecided at this point in time. I mean no offense to anyone by what I'm saying. Everyone is entitled to their opinion
As well as: Give the lower working class a house loan with high interest rates; let them go into bankruptcy which in turn sends us into receivership; receive a government payout; reward our CEOs; then to make the consumer feel confident, the government will hand out surplus packages to boost the economy. We win again because it is all about consumerism; we can get in to purchase our products cheaply and early before the price rises down the line to the poor or low income earners who will in turn come back to us for another loan to buy what they cannot afford; we will give them one at an extremely high rate because of their last failed endeover and the process starts all over again. weeeeeeeeeeeeee
It is because she is a known entity and Bernie is not widely known or at least wasn't. Lets face it Obama won on skin color, simple as that. If the roles were reversed in the Bernie/Hillary category with the same ideas of each, Hillary would be leading because of gender, simple as that. And as much as we like to yell it from the roof tops that they do, Agendas/views don't really matter We are a superficial species where money, race, looks and gender prevail, not substance.
It really makes sense that he has to win by 10% in the rest of the primary states when some of those states are winner-take-all. I don't know where you're getting your numbers. I am unable to find a single source that backs them up. Maybe you've done all the math yourself and you're including the superdelegates, which can change at any time and likely will change drastically if Bernie wins the popular vote. More likely you're just repeating Hillary propaganda you saw on facebook or twitter.
Yes but corporate welfare is a social program, the worst one. The bail out of the banks and car companies in 2009 was an atrocity. Using government money to sustain anything is socialism (corporate welfare cough cough). I agree that the corporate welfare problem needs to be discussed a lot more than it should to our elected officials. I guess the reason you don't see many common folk talk about it is because it is an issue 99% of us will agree that corporate welfare is bullshit, and doesn't warrant a 10 page thread. I could bitch on and on about taxes outside of social programs like the military, government sponsored terrorism, Israel, etc. as well but I felt it would've distracted the thread. I'm not big a fan of social programs for the needy, but I think getting rid of them all right away would be risky business. So I think there can be lots of ways of enhancing them to make it so people on these social programs will get encouraged to work harder to get off of them, without abolition But it seems it's designed to keep people out of the work force and dependent on them, so the politicians who ramp up the assisted living benefits will buy themselves more votes.
Actually, I liked the idea of the auto bailout. Saving that kind of industry for American jobs is significantly more important than nailing out banks that knowingly fucked the economy. I also don't want to distract from the point of this thread though, but before I get back to that... I am in total favor of social programs. It's a faulty argument to say that social programs encourage people to just live off the government/taxes. You try living on that and see how happy you are to stay there. Ain't no way you would be content with that... just like most people.
Anyway... back to Sanders/Clinton... I kept seeing this here and there, but didn't watch it until earlier today. It's not as "tabloid sensational" as I thought it'd be, instead it's pretty damning on what it covers. This is basically why we NEED to vote for Bernie over Hillary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dY77j6uBHI (I'm guessing most of you have probably seen that already, but I figured I'd post it for anyone who hasn't.)
My point wasn't race or any of that type of small minded rhetoric. I was just pointing out why I think Bernie is not 'killing it' as some have hoped. Women see Hillary as a women therefore easier to relate too and will get the vote. Bernies ideas may not be far better then Hillarys but at least he won't blow up the world but even so, he will fail to grab the vote. Obama won on his smoothnes; a young black man with the gift of the gab and Oprah in hot pursuit. Spoke well at the town halls and parleyed his BS onto the big stage. Had the ladies, the Black and Hispanic voters in his pocket. Promised them everything; now look around the town you live, the city nearby, the state you chose to live in, your country and the world and just for one moment look and see what blind faith and no substance takes us. reb / dem /ind / or some guy off the street; whoever can led by example and mean what he says then thats the vote the voter should give, not the to new shiny BMW with all the trimmings yet no engine.
Actually, President Obama has gotten a lot accomplished. And it would be a fuckton more if the Republicans hadn't set out to obstruct, literally, everything he tried to do... starting the night of his 2009 inauguration. There are some places where he could've done better, but overall he's been awesome. As for "Hope and Change", I find it funny that Hillary hugs onto Pres. Obama so tightly, but she's not so hot on the whole "Hope and Change" thing, since she's more of a "Wait and Aim Low" kinda candidate. In that sense, Bernie is the natural to pick up that torch from the president.
I'm calling bullshit on that one. I've seen the polling demographics. Where I live, conservatives are running everything, and they're fucking it up. People here have blind faith in the Republican Party. A new, relevant film that sheds a lot of light on Socialism, European style: http://www.hipforums.com/forum/topic/475108-where-to-invade-next/
So apparently Hillary made a statement at Nancy Reagan's funeral about how much awareness the Reagans brought to the AIDS epidemic. Lol.
I don't judge her by gender at all. But then again, that's just me. Valid point. She should be judged by her actions as a politician... but you know how that works out. Yay corruption!!
I wouldn't say I'm a FAN of social programs for the needy, but I see their necessity. I also agree with your point that some politicians have a vested interest in continuing the cycle of poverty. This is why I am a fan of social programs that empower the poor and ensure so many don't get sucked into the cycle. Some programs are safety nets (food stamps, section 8, etc) and some are investments - affordable eduction, affordable healthcare, infrastructure improvements, etc. With the right investments the need for a social safety net shrinks.
