That's not socialism at all. That's a privately conducted charitable donation. Socialism takes donations by force through the barrel of a gun. Good (for now). I actually want Clinton to lose her primary again, and Sanders is the only one left who can do it. She won't be running again after this; she's old and her health is deteriorating. I'm just not so keen on pres Bernie.
That would probably be why she said she needs to consult with the tech experts. I really don't care if you reply to my criticisms as your mind is made up and nothing I say will ever change it.
All these memes going around just indicate most Americans have no clue what a mixed economy is. No one is advocating complete government ownership of the means of production.
A lot of people (not just americans) don't know much about socialism and how diverse it can be anyway. They also seem to ignore the fact that you can (and should) take the good aspects from a certain system and leave out the bad, and not just completely switch from one system or -ism to another. Also, a lot of people still see socialism as the inevitable step before communism which is (can I say) plain stupid and short sighted. Inform yourself already Besides, communism (which I'm not really advocating ;P to be sure) has never properly come to existence, only perverted versions of it. So when people think of communism or socialism they immediately connect it to the worst case examples in history. Which may be logical but not completely right. edit: so in essence that meme 6-eyed shaman shared is a good because it is a funny joke. Unless it is ment seriously, then it is kind of sad. I would say then the real joke would be the people that don't see it as a silly joke but a spot on summary of socialism in reality.
Factors of production include land, capital, and labor. Probably a lot of people have no clue what the means of production actually is. Pretty much all land is government owned. Real estate may be looked at as land, but it is really capital, as it is land bought from the government and used to produce other goods, or sold in the real-estate market, to produce housing, or commercial real estate, both goods or investments depending on how you look at things. Things certainly not as simple as black and white.
A problem we have in the US with sweeping political changes is the effects are magnified when you have 350 million or more people spread across a thin infrastructure. Suddenly switching to another system like say through revolution, a classic American right, would cause confusion, chaos and the deaths of everyone who can't survive infrastructure outages for all kinds of reasons. For a while now we've been in a renaissance for seeking social normalization, but it's beginning to spill over into our practical lives in ways nobody could have predicted. We have dynastic families playing poker with our lives, trading the pot back and forth. It's time for new ideas, not the kind written on a card for Obama to read. I'm certain Hillary will only be slightly different. Bernie will of course be radically different and if he can back off his hatred of white people, which looks really foolish coming out of the mouth of an old white man, he might have a chance. I'm weary of the race game and watching it used with great effect in 2008 to topple the "Clinton Machine" was sobering. Hillary was more qualified then. Her problem is the joint skeletons she keeps in the closet with Bill's. I admit it's funny to watch her grab for delegates like a cat being tormented by a child with a sardine. Democrats are having fun at her expense, pay close attention to who they are. Because if she wins, out they go! Another thing that's interesting is the odd assumption that black and Hispanic voters are going to turn out in numbers like Obama saw. They think this because they have done such a great job of painting Trump as a Nazi, klansman and all around racist. Surely the minority voters will turn out just to keep Trump from winning. But voters have never worked like that. They don't vote against, they vote for. And if the "for" is a lame choice, they turn the other way and get a 6-er some smokes and a powerball ticket. Trump can win, but it doesn't mean he'll get anything done. Washington will stonewall him just as they did Obama. Trump has no friends in business either. More than 50 private jets ferried the nation's fattest cats on the right to a private island retreat to plan ways to stop Trump. The fact that both sides are trying to gut him like a fish should be a huge wake up call for somebody.
I don't agree with his economic policies. I hold the belief that if we cut reckless government spending and reduced taxes and abolished all the hidden taxes most people don't even realize they pay, fewer families and households would need to be subsidized. He sees things the opposite. Plus, the guy has $65,000 in credit card debt. How do you expect a guy that deep in personal debt to straighten out USA's debt? No, there's nobody left I'd vote for. I've written in other posts that say I'm very picky when it comes to voting for a candidate; I have to nearly see eye to eye with them on many of their issues. I don't believing in voicing any support for a corrupt corporate of the lesser evil. I agree with his foreign policy and drug use policy to name a few. He's the lesser evil to Hillary, but that ain't enough. But I've never voted for a democrat or a republican candidate in the general election.
As far as I know, every nation on earth (with a few exceptions of extremist dictatorships) has mixed blends of socialism and market anarchy. There are in fact people running for office who are advocating to crank up the level of socialism, while some others are advocating to decrease it.
How so? If you don't pay your taxes to fund socialist programs, you get thrown in jail. Your example was an individual with a lot of signs giving one to their neighbor who had none. Did the government require it? No. Your example was giving a gift privately.
It certainly is a wake up call to someone; the population that is. These type of manoeuvres against trump is the reason why he is so popular. The outcast standing up against the establishment. As much as certain political parties will not admit; he is kicking their asses and the opposition ( Dem/Rep Candidates) are helping him do it; ironically, to themselves.
Bernie would have to win every remaining primary by at least 10 percentage points in order to get the nomination – not gonna happen hotwater
It's not the most likely thing to happen. on the other hand same with Obama becoming president. And, to state it with certainty and act upon it may make it needlessly a self fulfilling prophecy.
You do realize we already pay taxes and not all of it funds social programs? The only thing I'm really advocating is that out tax dollars be spent responsibly on programs that are beneficial to the country's citizens. It amazes me that so many people are concerned over their tax dollars funding social programs..yet have no complaints about corporate welfare, our overinflated defense budget (of which veterans receive very little), tax loopholes for the wealthy, and other various pointless and wasteful expenditures. Fucking amazing, really. We'll see.
Very optimistic ... that's okay, I'm not feeling that optimistic either and frankly I'm becoming a bit disgusted with politics in this country and the rampant ignorance that permeates society.
Yup...I have been feeling that way for a long time already and do not bother much irl with any of it, anymore. i don't know why I do here....Clinton or Trump will never represent who i want as president in this country...and I am tired of getting blamed for what the majority of Americans wish for. I stick with art and music and writing really in personal rl interests.
I laughed out loud at Hillary's propaganda she's pushing on TV the other night. Now she's trying to get votes from the chronically ill. It'll be a gas watching her campaign go up in flames and reduce to ashes before it hits the ground. And all we have to do is watch! She's already destroyed it with her reputation (aka the past that haunts her) as far as I'm concerned. But... what do I know? I'm no politician. My vote still stands with Bernie. Though, I am wary. TALK - IS - CHEAP. I can't say I don't like Trump, but all I see is VERY bad news if he takes office. It started as a joke... and is continuing as a joke. Whether he calms his tits and becomes more professional: Knocking off the racism, ill-speak and controlling that mouth of his, is still to be seen. (I haven't been paying much attention really. Presidential elections have been a joke for the last few decades now... possibly much longer than that) But if you think for a second he'll be looking out for the little guys, think again. That's how you get to be in a position like that. Using 'little guys'' heads as a stepstool to climb to the next rung on the ladder. In another sense, the nation is in a state of financial turmoil. Replace that with another type of evil? The man's smart financially, I'll give him that. Foreign relations will be a sanctuary in some places, but a hellish battleground in others. Regardless, it will be a close call and I imagine everyone will want a recount like always. Like it will make a damn bit of difference... That said, I'm still voting.
You can blame speculative investors for setting back the country's GDP .. what, like 10 years maybe? Blame it on the housing bubble, they knew damn well that it wouldn't last and that it would come crashing down ... a damn good opportunity to make out with lots of money and fuck the rest of us.
Hillary is now running a very dishonest TV commercial in North Carolina, trying to scare elderly people into voting for her. It implies that Bernie's efforts to change government health care could leave them with no options at all; essentially a death sentence for them.
