Back in the 70's people in general understood that "pollution" was bad. Air pollution especially, and many were cleaning up their act on their own. The relationship between air pollution and climate change should be obvious. But now that the term "climate change" is being used instead of "air pollution problem" many people see the problem as something not related to them... "not their fault" , "not their problem". ( the "climate has always changed" crowd) People seem to be missing the point, and messaging may be part of the problem.
