Like, oh violent video games don't affect kids, how do I know? Well they've been saying it for years. Nevermind the rise in violent crime over those years.

It's like things have to go from 0 to 100 in an eye blink or they're not happening.

None of these alternatives are alternatives in the long run

Anything that requires a battery is no alternative in the long run, especially once multiplied by 5 billion users multiplied by every generation

 

I think it was the US army issuing warnings to its members about ths risk of cinema shootings with the upcoming Joker movie.

I found it interesting because they seemed to imply that 20 something white guys that cant get a girlfriend are the profile most likely to turn into mass shooters, these incel types identify with the Joker character apparently.

Not so much about video games but pop culture, but yeah. Most of these mass shooter types fit that profile, angry young white dudes that cant get a girlfriend

I have had my mobile phone since 2007 ans despite chatting on it for more than 3000 hours, it still works perfectly.

No modern phone has many of the features that I use all the time. I am also on my 4th battery. Most modern phones have batteries that cannot be replaced by the user.

It is the memory-centric systems logic chickens, which assumes everybody is a damned liar and the only thing all the noise they make is good for is figuring out what is worth ignoring. The louder they scream, but don't run in circles, the more often it pays off just to ignore them. Republicans declare war on everything except mom's apple pie, so they can convince themselves to stop paying attention to whatever the public says. Donald Duck is threatening to destroy the entire world economy again, committing treason, etc. and his base supports him 100%, because nobody is stopping them from doing whatever the hell they want. Even if he is convicted of treason, he won't spend a minute in a jail cell. They would rather execute him then see him in jail, because if he's in jail he's a reminder that they fucked up and keep fucking everything up imaginable.

They only want to believe whatever the hell they want to believe, right this minute. Like an infant, out sight, out of mind, and the public will gladly elect another Donald Duck after a few years. The idea voting can be meaningful when at least 1/3 of the country never listens to what the majority says is absurd.

 

Not to me. I went and saw it with a couple of friends, and it seems like forever ago.

I'm not talking about electric cars though, I dont think they're good for the environment either and I think we need to move away from car culture period. If it has to be electric it should be mass public transportation. Especially in the US, we really need more rail options available.
And condensed areas (versus miles of sprawl where it isnt that feasible) could take some cues from The Netherlands bicycle culture
And speaking of sprawl
We need to rethink how we build, suburban sprawl is awful on so many levels
