I mean it's all theoretically interesting but let's face it, we can't even land a man on the closest planet we have to us. Anything else is all pretend.
I agree. I think in America we have this fantasy about our space program that is somewhat irrealistic. But space is very big. And exploration is warranted; though perhaps for different motives. There must be military applications too. I'm pretty sure the Space Force or whatever it's being called has been ok'd too. Not sure where they're going with that though. Russia were the first to have Sputnik. Then we landed on the moon; which is somewhat of a big deal. I think because of the timeline when it all happened with a cold war and suspicion etc., a space race was inevitable. I like the idea of a habitable planet. I wonder if there is life on it.
The space force has probably more to do with earth than it does aliens. Like if Russia or china put a station in the upper atmosphere that contains ballistic missiles, then everyone will want a space station with missiles. So, it's Defense but up in space and we're going to get like that if we haven't already. Easier to fire a missile down than it is across the oceans. But yeah, I've said it before if we can't even craft a vessel to reach the depths of our oceans to explore our own planet I have no confidence in humans to actually be space explorers out there in the universe and if so it's so distantly far in the future it feels pointless to me to even get into. Maybe they'll land a man on Mars before I die but I don't even care about that. I wanna know what is in our oceans. So many ancient cities under there.
On the other hand I am certain science is so infatuated with space exploring because they know there's intelligent life out there. Re discovering earth is only going to lead to a complete re write of human history which must seem like an implausible task this day and age, but how else can you significantly keep ignoring and not pursuing our own planet first before this fantasy of other planets? I think there's far too much inconsistancy in the history we are told it's probably easier to redesign history on another planet. Interesting fact: in Sumerian mythology, the Anunnaki that were born on earth were not taught about their home planet Nibiru, were never taken there and had no clue of its existence. Successfully created new species this way who have no inclination of their own origins and to me, that's what science is doing to us here and I have no doubt, when humans do get to other planets and start civilised life, there will be similar occurrences.
it is nearby in relation to rest of the universe , but a light year is the distance light can travel in one year. 6 trillion miles , so 600 trillion miles. by the time the crew gets there, they'll have forgotten why they're there
It's also kinda cute when people think people will be the ones exploring. It'll be robots, not people. They're having a hard time trying to figure out how to keep astronauts fit and healthy on their way to Mars, yet alone 600 trillion miles away. But a robot that can just start up and shut down is much more plausible.
what you gonna do with five generations of dead bodies anyhow? you have to bury them in space. and you'd need a whole deck of the ship ( maybe more) to grow food. just not feasible. recycle water and air a whole mini- ecology .now if you could get abducted by aliens, make them show you how to move thru space and time instantly.
The possibilities of space exploration are endless. But not for the people who are alive now of course. But we can (and imo should) invest in developing it so some generation in the future may succesfully take humanity there. Hopefully not to fully replace Earth though So yes, discovering such a planet is definitely significant. Just not for us who are alive today in terms of direct consequences
But that's the problem, Earth will not last forever. At some point in the distant future the sun will start to decay and in so doing will become a giant, burning and swallowing our planet as we know it, so if the human species, and indeed every other species we want and need is to survive in perpetuity, we need to find some other planet.
Yeah, that's so distant in the future though, if we keep developing space exploration from now on we should be in another galaxy by the time our sun is at that point. And yes, i know what a galaxy and how unlikely it is we will end up in another one by sheer travelling through space
I don’t know why but when I read ‘Climate Change is Accelerating’ I want to follow that up with …………..
Not even close to earth like One side always faces the sun, a 37 day year, it's sun is less than half the size of ours They just bullshit to make sure they keep getting funded
