Yep, John Hughes had a big run there.
    16 Candles
    The Breakfast Club
    Weird Science
    Uncle Buck
    Ferris Beuller's Day Off
    Planes, Trains and Automobiles
    Christmas Vacation
...then in the 90's he kind of fell off. But, I hear he was a writer on Drillbit Taylor, but wrote under the name "Edmond Dantes". I haven't seen that movie.

Truly impressive necropost where all the participants prior save for Scratcho are no longer active, LOL.

But hey, I like 80's movies myself. A lot of them seem better-balanced compared to the film of today, too. Too many good 80's films to mention, but the original Star Wars trilogy and a lot of Spielberg films made in that era are still some of my favourites. And not to mention the other ones like Flight Of The Navigator and The Last Starfighter, The Dark Crystal, and of course one of my all-time favourites, Superman films with the late Christopher Reeve.

Oh yeah, I wasn't complaining, or anything of the sort. In fact, I like this topic.

So, thank you Fred for reviving this thread. :sunglasses:

I worked in the film industry between 1970 and 87. it was a wonderful time, On golden pond and Yentl were among my favorites. Recording this scene and then opening the film in London is still one of my fondest memories.

Flashdance! Not to mention Dirty Dancing and Back to the Future of course
    And all of John Hughes
And whatever came out in the 80's by Cronenberg and Lynch (forget Dune though, its horrible)
For me also die Blechtrommel by Voelker Schloendorff and The Mirror by Andrei Tarkovsky, but those I've watched as a grownup.
And last but not least Bladerunner.
Probably a whole lot more though.

Always loved the Lynch version of Dune. You have to be in a certain mindset to sit down and watch it. But great collection of actors and great soundtrack

I agree Dune Directed by David Lynch was horrible (and you'll find no bigger fan of the Dune universe anywhere on earth)
