Concepts of what is good and bad, right and wrong change over time. Take Clarence Darrow (1857-1938), who was called the attorney for the damned. He was a controversial figure during his time. But really he did no more than what a good lawyer would do. In the Leopold and Loeb, he never got them acquitted. He just made sure they did face the death penalty. And he even did controversial things like favor eugenics.
