at first i found it difficult finding fellow hippie friends here in australia.. but, if you go to 'hippie attractions' such as - st andrew's market, or festivals such as rainbow serpent.. you find there are many hippies around here and in the past year i have become part of a 'chosen family' that is full of people around my age who have come to their being and realised life for what it really is.. and i'm so so so happy with it all! i'm so excited guys! i just got a part time job at ishka.. and there are hippies all around me there! it's soo great to surround myself in such a positive environment.
yep, Oregon is good, and so is Bloomington, Indiana. New England...lots who have small farms. Depends on what "old hippie" you mean. New Madrid, NM has a lot, and they settled that town and turned it from a ghost town into an artists village. I remember when the police "chief" had hair to his rear.
Def. not South Carolina. I know a few hip folks from here that have relocated to Oregon. How is the hip population in Maine?
San Francisco, Berkeley, Mt. Shasta City (in the warmer months), Ocean Beach (San Diego), Ventura...Santa Cruz... Lots of places all up and down California.
Hippies are really elusive and hard to find now a days. Its all about looking in the right places. I recently found a group at Rutgers filled with very hip people. Its called Tent State, its in a few other univerties as well, but its orginally from Rutgers.
You look pretty young dude, if you are learning how to live simply now, you are doing it faster than you think. Everything happens now anyway, so really , there is no slow or fast about it. No regrets, but I wonder what my life would be like had I started it further along the path. Maybe this life will get me further down the road earlier in my next one. Viva la Processe
well, I would have to agree with Oregon having a very high hippy population. Humboldt county in northern Cali also has a lot of hippies. Nevada county in northern Cali [where I live] has a respectable amount of hippies too...yay!
I say Oregon for the U.S., man that state rocks! But city wise? I'm not sure... The only city I've spent more then 3 days in is Coeur D' Alane. You could count Newport, Oregon but that was on a family vacation so I didn't see much but a hippie/head shop.
Boulder,Co did have a large pop. -maybe they still do Look my property in coal creek canyon butts to boulder county, its taken 1.5 months 35k in permitt fees even before the first dirt was moved. Boulder wold of been double and a year long deal...(id not of built there) First week here I was advised from some **** from boulder on how things worked around here....so I set her straight. I was informed on how they would try to respect my land as since its flat they like to ride there horses....my response has been tripple row barb wire, a few privaite property signs, alot of food left out to keep the bears happy. In boulder county if I had wanted to build there I would have had to submitt actual paint samples and the permitt process takes over a year.... So maybe the wanna be rich hippies, the baby boom types and the school kids make up boulder. Drive a diesel truck or a 900hp street driven car to boulder and you are looked down upon....fuck boulder.
boulder does seem to have gone down hill in some areas, but the out skirts of it and areas around and still pretty hippie-ish
= Glad to hear Boulder is hanging in there. A lot of hippies migrated to Boulder in the early to mid-80,s hoping to escape some of the politics that was to come to No.Cal . Boulder cared more about bicycle lanes than auto lanes, and was environmentally friendly before most states. Thier used to be the "Free Ride" -a bus would take you back & forth from Denver for nothing as long as it wasnt during peak hours. Dont know whats happening now but I hope the greed of the yuppies didn't ruin ,which was once just a town in the foothills of the Rockies by exploiting the hip-ness of Pearl st, river rafting, skiing & all the activites that generate lots of cash. Yuppies get greedy very quickly and can bring down a good thing fast. see-Wall St lately?? best, jjack
