Never needed it. My penis gets very smooth when fully erect. Lube dries out and makes it more difficult after a couple minutes than without it. Only time I do it with lube is mutual masturbation with a woman when we've already lubed ourselves up for intercourse.

 

Try something that's not water based.

 

I like jacking off with coconut oil; it's cheap, readily available, and tasteless. A couple of drops of essential oil and it makes a great massage oil too.

I have tried quite a few different lubes over the past fifty plus years masturbating. My favorite lube is Mens Cream for last thirty years. Last twenty years masturbation has been my sex life. I have discovered over time that there is a perfect portion to make masturbation better. I am cut and have a helmet head. A little bit of the lube goes a long way and lasts a long time. When needed I add more but try not to over lube as the sensations are less intense. This year I have had a lot of personal-best sessions and frequently top the previous session. Someday it may be the cause of my death: what a way to go. Would have to be closed casket funeral because of the look on my face.
