Everybody send some healing energy and love to Ellen. Or if you got those kinds of connections, say your best prayers. (Whichever!) whatever is no longer in fashion. So, now it's always whichever. My new rule.

The book is starting up swimmingly. I've added Cakes hot new stories. Tillerwah has sent me two letters that are overall highlights of all of his years of running and flying. The highlights could each become a major story. Maybe a dozen tales, there. I have two stories online and two stories that each need a few more paragraphs added to them. I need to record Ranger, he types better than his son but not by much. He told me eight great stories on the phone. I've got to get all of this down. It's all to good to be true.

I just had a flash Idea.
Maybe we could run down Dennis McNally or David Talbot and have one or both of them or each of them write two Introductions to this book. Ranger, I would think that Dennis owes us. I think that we got him together with the Dead and there people.

    Who Is ???

    Reference: Dennis McNally

Even better that each of these is Michael McClure, S.F. beat poet and much more. He was My English 1A class teacher at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, Ca.

My point here is prior reputation in the book industry. Here the lowdown on how this works.

(First, people “MAJORS book agents, publishing houses, major book reviewers, etc.” don’t know us from dick!) Known author names draw real credible attention.

Books always list the very same way (a standard listing format). In the publishing industry, in press releases, on Amazon or Barns and Noble, in every library in the country.

    The standard.

Title, author, and if a compilation like our book the senior editor rather than author, and some times “with Introduction by ________” and the publisher name.

Or by author or editor, title, and intro, publisher.

It world be a huge selling point:

Industry name dropping could create a real hot property right off the bat. The names could open huge publishing doors for us and huge distribution doors.

    The listing would read as:

What Ever the Title of This Stupid Hippie Book is. K ______, ed. Introductions by Michael McClure, Dennis McNally, and David Talbot. Hippie Museum Publishing, 2012.

This is us kids. What a f__ing seller. Killer. People would totally stand up and take notice. Who else could we reach out to???

Ken Kesey? Grace Slick? Big Names anyone?

Do you remember the R. Crumb cover of the Cheap Thrills album, Big Brother? It said on the front, “This album endorsed by the Hell’s Angles.” With their logo. Maybe Ranger could talk to Sonny Barger or Peppermint Patty could make a phone call.

    "Approved by Hell’s Angles, Frisco."

Our front book cover could have an ass load of, “This book is endorsed by.” Ranger, call in your favor with Governor Jerry Brown of California. STP, Good Earth, Hell’s Angles, The Family Dog with logo, use your imagination here. The list could go on forever. Unity Foundation, San Francisco, Sign Display & Allied Crafts Union. Local 510, Bay Area. Bill Ham Lightshow. Cousin Kinky Freedman.

Ideally it would be very nice to make our book very famous long before it ever comes out. That would be cool.

Okay, I’ll shut up now. But it is a good idea.

Anybody read it yet. Your buzz! Input. Crosstalk. (i.e. talk to one another about what you read.) Stir the FIRE. maybe.

Brilliantly written, Cakes. It is the epitome of the classic "coming to San Francisco" story. It is more perfect that any with a surprise Janis ending.

You are brilliant! Awesome. I'll post it tonight, after my partner hits it with a second edit, for us each to see. Bitchen book. Thanks for writing a classic.

Chris, you sent me some awesome stuff. The first Baltimore and now this. I can envision a mix together saga. This is ALL getting so exiting now. Like to talk with you. Whether to shape it all into one big story or Grab each of these high points and spin a separate tale of each one. Probably more dramatic that way. I think, but we'll conference on this. Okay?

12:10 afternoon here and currently 96 degrees with no humidity. The air conditioning keeps coming on at 78 degrees and I'm sitting here nude and freezing my ass off. Life's a bitch.

Might hit 105 later. But it's a dry heat. LOL

All the folks you mentioned for lntros are reachable on Facebook except Patty and that may be a matter of the spelling of her last name. Anybody got a copy of Women's Comics?

Cakes, I just now put your edited new story into layout and created a new pdf and transfer that on to the web space. Everybody and Ellen, Check it.!!! The ultimate classic tale, Cakes.

With regard to Larry Keenan. Way too cool.
I found this space and clicked on "Early 60s" and than clicked on "60s–70s counterculture" and there's tons of pictures of Michael McClure, My English teacher, and references to him and references to my old art college, CCAC. It was making me crazy to hear and see it all. Maybe when we get a few hundred pages down, we could invite Michael to put together a couple dozen of his own tales. Doesn't have to be all GE. Beat poets on into hippies. Cool.

Yeah, we got to get Larry into the museum and into the book. Both.

I'm happy that you finally took a look at Larry Keenan's Page.. This is what I been telling you about that would be so cool to get some of his photos. He has already told me we are welcome to all he has for the museum. There is one of me in there also in them 68 photos.. it titled Wild Horses. I'm the blond. the other girl is Patty, she came up to SF with me. I'm thinking I was 17 when that pic was taken. I dont know whatever became of Patty, she hooked up with Skip The Rip a heroin addict that hung on Haight Street and got strung out ,she was very pregnat and hooked the last time I saw her around 68.

Yes, that'd be the one, ahhh youth, it is wasted on the young. Who knew 40 + yrs later I would find this pic on the internet. He sent me the proofs afew yrs back or some of them. He is a very cool person. Unless someone has taken pics of me back then in The Haight, I believe this is the only one of me there. I think Diane has some but she's not sharing.

I got up an hour ago. Two cups of coffee. Ellen wrote to me the other day and she got her left eye fixed last Thursday. She that she popped the left lens out of her eye glasses. Too cool.

I just finished looking through all of Larry Keenan's online pictures and histories. Awesome.
Pulled "Wild Horses" off of the web and resaved in PhotoShop and put it in the book layout on page 8, with Larry's quote in a caption box with Your Nickname and Patty - 1968.

Go and See It. Ta Daa.

I'll check my e-mail. This is all getting so exciting. Isn't it?

    lovins
