They do not embrace the peoploe rther the spirit and love of Christ, but im neither gay, black, or christian so i can not say for sure...
In retrospect I am beginning to doubt my decision to move it. I didn't realize that it was directed at me specifically, I thought it was just the usual complaining about Christianity that he felt like he had to interject, and as such seemed completely irrelevant to the entire discussion. I misunderstood the post. I never intended for it to become what it did, I was simply trying to adhere to my own rules for my forum without snuffing out his opinion altogether, especially since YOU accused me of snuffing out your free speech. But I did NOT move it with the intention to start an argument or a flame war. I can tell you at least that much. I'm sorry it turned into that. It saddens me to see people behave this way.
I dunno, I was in a position where I could have seriously (maybe fatally) hurt someone in self defence. I chose not to hurt him, I looked inside myself and couldn't hurt him even though I knew the concequences for myself I took strength to cope through the pain knowing I had made the right decision in not debasing myself to his level. I'm not saying this is the right decision for everyone and until I was in that position I couldn't have told you what decision I would have made. But it was the right decision for me, I couldn't have lived with myself otherwise. Grrr bad memories I'm off to bed for the night now or I'll never get up for work Love and Learning Clairexxx
Where exactly in The Bible does it say a Christian is not allowed to defend himself? I don't own a gun. I do own a bat that sits next to my bed just incase I need it. Does this mean I am not a true Christian?
Well no doubt you will find some lunacy in the old testament to justify wrongly calling yourself a christian whilst at the same time knocking someone's brains out because he/she might be a threat. Ever thought someone breaking into your house might actually need your help? Nah, didn't think so. Even your username says a lot about YOUR christian values. Jesus preached turn the other cheek. Perhaps you should re-study the New Testament? I'll repeat again...anybody who lives in fear, preaches intolerance and is scared of death how can they be a christian?! There is a lot of right-wing rubbish on here masquerading as Christianity. If the alledged peacemakers are armed and living in fear...it's not suprising the world is f****d!
I'm not being insulting, I was sharing my beliefs. Hopefully, I will do a better job of representing my L-rd today, but my apologies if I do not. However, I have to say that this: Is unnecessary and insulting. I'm just sharing what I've been taught and what I believe with you. I don't think it's appropriate to call me arrogant, I'm not in here slinging names your way. You don't know me at all enough to be able to make an adequate judgement of my character. Claire, you pulled my quote from another post, and that particular comment wasn't aimed towards you. If you looked at my responses to your questions on the same thread, you'll notice that I was very respectful, and hopefully answered your questions. I'm not sure what you were trying to prove, pulling my responses from another post. Could you clarify? Some people have been being very disrespectful lately in other threads, and I don't really deserve it. I'm a decent individual, I don't pass judgements on people, I just want people to respect my G-d as much as they would like to have theirs respected, and it seems that it's too much to ask of some people. I'm not the one catagorizing them as sinners, the Bible is. I'm not supposed to pass judgement, I'm not fit to, because I'm a sinner as well. Don't you understand? EVERYONE IS A SINNER. No, but people who insult me for my beliefs are. Who called you a talentless dimwit? It certainly wasn't me, and again, we're commenting on a post that wasn't even directed towards you. I'm sorry you're offended though, but you really shouldn't be. I can't get over the fact that people come into a Christian friendly forum and call my G-d a "fucking idiot" - CHRISTIAN FRIENDLY: Those words mean people who are either Christian or tolerant and accepting of Christians. They blatantly disregard the rules, just for the sake of having a laugh at others expense, which I find cruel and unnecessary. I'm sorry you feel this way, but even the Christians need to have a place to go that is safe from the ridicule of others. Do you always want to do the things you're supposed to do? I didn't feel like coming to work today. I really really didn't, but I have to, because that's my duty. Since this comment wasn't directed at you anyways, I'm not sure what your problem is. It's not about scoring points with Jesus, it's about making sure people have a proper understanding of who Christ is. When people misrepresent him, I do try to correct them. Sorry, I think you'd correct someone too if they had the wrong idea about your beliefs. Because they're flawed human beings just like you and me. In the perfect world, Christians would act perfectly, but this is the really real world, where the really real people live, we can't act perfectly 24-7. It sucks, but a lot of times, people don't know how to act, including myself and other Christians. As for intolerance, I tolerate and love everyone. Even all you guys, even though you won't believe me. You're all intelligent people who ask great, thought-provoking questions, and I wasn't talking about any of the posters I've seen in here when I was going on about ignorance in the Christianity forum (believe me, there are people who aren't as careful to be respectful). Maybe you'll find it in your heart to forgive me for my flaws also, for I am only human. About the other comments: I don't live in fear. I don't fear death. I would gladly give my life for another, and don't believe in violence. Nor do I support the death penalty... It may say "An eye for an eye" in the Old Testament, but Christ said: "Turn the other cheek". Only G-d should have the ability to take a life. So you're gonna have to find your argument for the death penalty elsewhere, 'cause I don't support it. I hope this helps you all to understand me a bit better. Take care, ya'll.
You cannot interpret the bible 100% literally, it's foolish. The bible was compiled by man, and translated by man, thus it will have human errors in it (Such as someone else brought up it, "Contradicting" itself. Catholics, Orthodoxes traditionally do NOT interpret the bible literally, which is what Fundementalists do, and which I will never understand. I mean a lot of fundementalists (and other religions including Catholic, but not nearly as much) try and bitch about homosexuality which was mostly spoken of in the Old Testament, right near where it says to stone adulturers and enslave your captives. It was a differnet time period, and Christ changed a lot of the old ways of the Jewish law. He was one of the FIRST MEN TO STAND UP for women as well in Jewish history. The differcnce is as Catholics we are taught (most anyway, it is not completly uniform) not to judge ANYONE--no matter how henious their sins, crimes etc. So for example the Church teaches homosexuality is a sin, and condemns the SIN, but not the sinner, that is between them and god. Personally, and most Catholics (esp. Younger ones too) don't give a rat's a$$ about being gay...as long as they are in monogomous relationships. We don't view homosexual perversion any worse than heterosexual, it's all wrong in the eyes of God. As far as guns, it's a tough one, but I honeslty don't think Christ would want you to just allow something to happen to yourself, your family, or children if you could stop it. That could be considered sloth or bad parenting. Christ said turn the other cheek, but once again, he did not go into details. I think what he meant was live your life by that TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY, and you will be okay. I think the Anarchist fellow whose post started this should maybe not be so arguementative and ask questions instead, I think I have explained pretty well the BIG differneces between certain Christians and their views.
If you want to see my discussions you can look through my last posts, I am not going to re-post them all for you. This is not a place JUST for christians. This is a forum to discuss christianity. If you guys want a "place to go that is safe from the ridicule of others" you have one. I sure wish I had a place to go safe from the ridicule of christians, however, but they tend to seek the non-believers out just to let us know how wrong we are. And that is likely the reason most of us are here discussing it. If you guys can't handle defending your faith, than be more careful where you broadcast it. And I am not talking about every christian here on the hipforums, I am talking about the ones who complain about non-christian posters.
If I may, a lot of people do not respect the Hallowed Tree as being a Christian-friendly place, and do not repect our rules. So even though we've set up a place that is safe, it's not really safe if people don't respect it. (I'm not talking about you, by the way, so please don't be upset. ) I can't speak for all Christians, but you won't find me butting into people's conversations and trying to witness. That's pretty rude. If people are asking questions or spreading information that's not entirely true, I speak up, but the truth of the matter is, being a witness for Christ is supposed to be by example mostly. If I'm doing my job, people are going to ask me what I do differently than everyone else and notice that I'm a Christian through my actions, because all of the talk in the world doesn't mean much unless it's backed by action. I'm sure someone is going to say I do a piss poor job, and I can't argue with that. I certainly could do better on my walk with Christ, and don't really need to be informed of that, because I already know. I'm only a human sinner, after all. I strive to follow Christ, I fall, but I get back up again, and try to do better next time... Hopefully.
Just to clarify, I only have a problem with non-Christian posters who cannot respect that I'm not a non-Christian. These are the kinds of people I was complaining about. If this was not directed at me, my apologies, but I felt that I had to make sure we were all on the same page.
The Hip Forums is a public, free speech, discussion forum... If you want a private debate or discussion, take it off the board. My friends and I use msn or yahoo messenger... just a thought. Lozi has my addy if you fancy a chat anytime... We can always avoid religion Love and Learning Clairexxx
I hear you, girl! I thought the same thing, but I absolutely hate offending people, so I just stopped offering opinions where I know they aren't welcome. Besides, I've become a HipForums addict. I gotta cut back. Thanks for being sweet and understanding... I'm sure we'll meet again! *HUGS* Julie
hmmm......well sadly we are HUMAN....which means we dont always get things right....our hearts might love God but we all make mistakes...that doesn't make us hypocrites..it makes us normal. roly.xxx
Read the whole thread Roly... Bree moved his comment off a post and made a whole thread out of it. It was taken out of context He dosnt hate Christians Love Clairexxxx
Well the day I become a hip forums addict is the day I eat my hat! *Claire eats her hat * Love and Learning Clairexxx
Christians aren't necessarily hypocrits, although it would be funny. I think the catholic church (war for peace) and Osama Bin Laden (killing 6000 people) are basically comedic masters who keep a straight face. Although the people who take the teachings of the church seriously are pretty funny too.
War for peace? What are you talking about? The Warring days of the church are long gone and have been for hundereds of years, considering the Catholic Church was extremely opposed to the War in Iraq.
