Christian Beliefs of What Heaven is Like

What do Christians think Heaven will be Like?

 

Floating around on a pink fluffy cloud with you parents for eternity? I don't know.I think the idea of heaven has too many inherent contradictions,which is why I don't really believe in it.

I consider myself to be a Christian, but I don't think of Heaven as a place where I'll go after I die. I think of it as a condition which is potentially here and now. (John 3:3: 3:36). "The Kingdom of the Father is spread out over the earth, and people do not see it". (Thomas, 113). If we take a closer look, the world and people around us can be heaven. Or hell, depending on our outlook. If we love God and our neighbors and follow the Golden Rule, we can see heaven begin to materialize around us , as a realm of peace, love and justice.

 

I don't know. Since I'm Atheist, they tell me I won't be g'wan up to heaben.

Pope Francis thinks atheists can still make it if they sincerely follow their consciences:"...the issue for those who do not believe in God is in obeying their own conscience. In fact, listening and obeying it, means deciding about what is perceived to be good or to be evil. The goodness or the wickedness of our behavior depends on this decision." Saint Justin Martyr, one of the first Christian apologists,had a similar view: "those who live according to reason are Christians, even though they are accounted atheists." Needless to say, not all Christians share these views, but then again, not all "Christians" are Christians.

I suppose the pure judgement by Kant of beauty belonging somewhere between heaven and earth will handle this truth about the ultimate Christians in the God-loved World. Reconciliation assuredly can belong to all and each of their own way.

what an ignorant thing to say. you have it wrong and confused the meaning. righteousness isn't a good quality for christians to possess, only ONE is righteous. walking the earth for eternity is actually a punishment.

 

I'm not Christian but for them I picture it like being suspended in this brightly lit fluffy dimension for infinity, with their fellow Christians and they've been stripped of the ability to argue, so they are in constant agreement with each other. Bible passages are read on a non-stop rotation in the background from an unseeable voice which carries on with a James Earl Jones type tone.

 

I quoted the bible, so, in essence you are saying that God is ignorant, because he is the author of the bible..it is apparent you do not know what "righteous" even means. No worries, I will pull up the dictionary definition..

and where do you get that walking the earth is a punishment? Your clergy?

 

I think you may have Heaven confused with the other place.

 

But you've got to die for being righteous. Muslims knew to be righteous at a heavenly opportunity. Hades, I say to you is no longer a mysterious place as it has it's gates in Tuscany.

And you know yourself already that christian belief can include other thoughts than just what is in the bible. That you take the bible literally doesn't say shit about the average christian, right? So why act like that.
So if there is nothing explicit about heaven in the bible it seems logical they have developed their own view on it.
