Chris Farley was supposed to play Shrek

Here's the original storyboard with the voice over



I wonder how a full movie with Chris Farley would've been rather than Mike Meyers.

 

Up until now, I didn’t appreciate that the character designers designed the characters in Shrek off of the voice actors themselves. I always saw the Eddie Murphy facial expressions of the Donkey. But I never appreciated that Shrek had a Mike Myers’ face.

And this story board clearly shows what a Chris Farley Shrek would’ve looked like.

It’s a shame Farley died 20 years ago. I think he’d’ve been a better Shrek than Meyers

 

Although you'd never guess it considering his bulk, Chris Farley was very self-conscious about his weight

 

Lol The accent always makes me forget Shrek is even played by Mike Meyers.
Banderas and Murphy are more recognisable.

 

I like the accent Meyers is able to throw off..

 

yeah...i listened to it and realize its juat a raw audio probably for audition purposes but the farley one just doesnt work...i dont think it would have been anywhere near as successful with farley

Never liked Shrek couldn't get into it.

 

i liked the first one

the sequels were crap

my nieces and nephews loved it...i think i even have a few shrek video games for gamecube

 

Yeah, maybe we're not the primary targeted audience.
I also liked the first one. The sequels had only some good moments.
