These are three things that have been given a bad rap over the years but are really good for you. Contrary to popular belief, to have too little of these things is far worse than having too much. When it comes to fats, not all fats are the same. Some fats are inflammatory and have a high omega 6 to 3 ratio (ie. trans fats from hydrogenated oils), but monounsaturated and saturated fats from whole food sources are extremely important for a healthy body and, contrary to popular belief, do not make you fat but boost the metabolism so that you lose weight. Fat is an absolutely essential part of a healthy diet, and it is important to get an adequate amount of it. Cholesterol has been attributed to heart disease, but that is a lie since it is inflammation that causes heart disease. This inflammation is caused by sugar, wheat and other refined carbs which spike the blood sugar and cause insulin spikes. High cholesterol in an otherwise healthy person does not pose any risk whatsoever. However, cholesterol that is too low does. Many people have cholesterol that is too low, and most of the people who die from sudden death heart attacks have cholesterol that is normal or below normal. Furthermore, cholesterol is absolutely essential for proper brain function, as most of our brain is composed of cholesterol. So doesn't it figure that statin drugs are being blamed for memory loss and a decline of cognitive function. Over the years recommended cholesterol numbers have been lowered to get more and more people on dangerous and deadly statin drugs, which absolutely wreak havoc and the heart, brain and muscles. Salt is another thing that is an essential nutrient and vital part of a healthy diet, considering it is REAL salt and not the proceseed, refined stuff we call table salt. Salt has been blamed for high blood pressure, when it is really sugar that is the leading cause of high blood pressure (and high cholesterol). Salt is absolutely essential for carrying nutrients into and out of your cells, maintaining and regulating blood pressure, increasing the glial cells in your brain, which are responsible for creative thinking and long-term planning, and helping your brain to communicate with your muscles. Salt is also an important component of your blood plasma, lymphatic fluid, extracellular fluid, and even amniotic fluid.
