This is the kind of lo-fi,slightly wonky kid's TV we used to have back in the 'seventies in England. We got a slot on a BBC 1 that ran for about an hour and a half.It was all very innocent and naive, but I liked it.I think a lot of it was made by hippies. Now we have all day children's TV on free -view,and a lot of it I find very discombobulating and frankly weird.Anyway, what kid's are going to be watching when they are supposed to be at school anyway.I find some of the visuals and zappy computer graphics a bit over the top.I think Kid's TV today is like brainwashing, preparing them for a systematised world.I think it's very much a wasted opportunity. What are your thoughts on this? ^This may be weird, but I think it shows elements of kindness and and restfulness that I find mostly lacking in kid's TV today.I think the stuff on today probably contributes to ADHD for example.

i'll sure second that. there's some good anime though, even if its not intended primarily for children. these look interesting. well, england in the 70s gave us the tommarow children, blake's 7, and dr who too. along with a lot of other good stuff that was no more for children then most anime. (monty python and a ton of britcoms, of varying quality) but television, my thought is, well television is television, which is mostly tell people to go out and buy corporate crap and a way of life based on it evision. well the 70s, at least in the more fortunate parts of the world, was as close as we've come to a decade of enlightenment in several centuries. pretty much all entertainment is to some degree a product of its times. there were a couple of big mistakes that decade too, and it wasn't all milk and roses in other parts of the planet either.
I think you mean the "The Tomorrow People".Great show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qzrrWNq_0E"]Tomorrow People Ep1 - One Law For The Poor (Studio Master) - YouTube

yup, this one. only ever got to see a couple of episodes. i don't think our local pbs where i was living ever bought that one. i only knew about it and got to see them because a couple of people who had come over and were part of our local science fiction group, had made camera copies and brought their tapes with them.

The kids shows are on for homeschooled and sick kids. I bet some adults like kids shows too. Some likely reading this. What do you want kids shows to be? Its meant to be educational and entertaining and for the most part it is just that. I dont see it as anything more.
Kids shows today are awful for the most part,at least in the UK.They are made for the most part by the wrong people for the wrong reasons. The whole of popular western culture has become dumbed down.I don't want to be entertained.I want to truly feel and get drawn into the mystery of life.Television is a very powerful medium, and it is being abused for profit and thought control.Anyway quite frankly I think you're a moron, and I don't like to use that term but in this case I think it is quite fitting. There are a few good kid's shows on British TV today but in general most of them lack poetry, wit and and humanity.I must admit I have a bias towards old-school effects because strangely they feel more real to me.
When I was a kid we used to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle. It used to crack my Dad up because it had all this dialog that would go over kids heads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcJ_f8BYSWY"]Rocky & Bullwinkle Episode 1 - YouTube
Was that insult supposed to be subliminal. I mean you stick it right in the middle of your post and it was funny because you say they are aweful then after you use words you dont like using you then say there are are some good ones...that right there is moronic. Which is it are they aweful or not....no questionmark there because im just observing i dont care what you think because i wont know which personality answers.
perpetuating misplaced values may be entertaining, to SOME children, but i certainly wouldn't call it educational. i know there are exceptions, but you're more likely to find those on pbs, then on your typical corporate cartoon channel, or other purveyors of so called children's programing. as for rocky and bullwinkle, oh god retch, please spare me. (i was there when they were in first run. and a lot of things worse. which is why i do question that the problem is anything new) i can remember when rose tinted hindsight was mostly a pastime for the senile. now, meaning in recently past decades, it seams to be getting trendy. the good and the bad in everything have been coming and going both, for as long as there has been time and people making note of its passing.
i misspoke i meant to say that kids shows should be educational and entertaining, for the most part they are. i guess some of the ones for older kids are not but by that time i would hope those kids have already learned enough that they dont need to be continually berated with the same messages. stuff like dragonball Z was never meant for a 7 year old to watch and romper room was never meant for a 10 year old to watch so that could be why there are some disagreements on what a kids show should be and what are good and bad ones
I think there are some awesome kid shows on TV right now. A lot of the time is he only thing I can stand watching. My most recent favorites are Adventure Time and Steven Universe. I also like Peg + Cat, but it's target audience is definitely the little kids. I just like the way it's drawn. I watch a lot of anime too. There's also tons of early 90's cartoon that were just pure genius and I never get tired of watching.
I used to love How, a kid's programme about how things worked... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XK0RImTvh0"]HOW Children's TV Fred Dineage Opening credits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS1-aoUNBbE"]How! UK ITV 1970's Childrens TV Programme
Time and Children's TV can (and indeed perhaps has to) change with the time i.e. Muffin the Mule, Gerry Andersons creations, Scooby Doo (my Grand children's fave) to Thundercats, Power Rangers and so on - all of which had an attraction of Colour, Action and music combination In respect of Blue Peter, Magpie, Sesame Street and the like, I find did have an educational value about them Though times change ad IT being the vanguard of such, keeping up with (and the attention of) requires a different level of pitch to the 'little ones'.
