You've all raised some good points (and had some amusing little skiffles)... To those of you considering having/with children: does the issue of overpopulation spring to mind when you consider(ed) having children? I'm not trying to impose an opinion on you; I'm just curious.
I plan to have kids because I love kids. I'll probably end up adopting them...and as far as society telling me to have kids..as queer as I am, the exact opposite is happening, so I don't think I'm conforming to any societal norms on that one.
Its not like I have a particularly high opinion of my folks' intelligence. I'm also a pretty firm believer in the Voluntary Human Extinction Act. But hey, its your life. Take your fertility pills, get on your back and start pumping out babies. I'm sure you're half-blind, cerebral palsied children will love you for it, even if their father doesn't.
Oh, I wasn't referring to your post Tara.....sorry if it looked that way. I took yours to mean that you didn't want any kids. I just find that a lot of people who hate kids say the rest of us are selfish. It's like they don't want the prize, and they don't want anyone else to have it either.....
No, hun, those who don't want any might 'rock a coathanger'......some of us did it on purpose, you just can't figure out why...and it's driving you nuts. So you call us stupid to make yourself feel better......hope you can get over it (read: yourself) soon.

apparently he doesnt understand anything at all... spooner I just wanted to say that I am not going to be popping out babies.. I have had to deal with a lot of health crap due to my disease and for me to get pregnant I will need the aide of fertility doctor..cause on my own, I will only have a 10 percent chance... But when I decide to have a child, I am going to try on my own and if it cant happen, i will adopt.. but thanks guy for acting like you know so much about things and again I just found it really tasteless what you said... I understand you can have your own view about the issue, but making assumptions about certain things you just cant do, you know..
Oh good, I didn't want you to think I was insulting you or anything. And I didn't want kids, at least to the point of not trying to find out why or do anything about it. If it happened, it happened. It didn't. Well, that would be just stupid of them!
Same here Will be sensible about it and try to raise them right. So can't see why it would be a problem. It's not a matter of conformity or whatever, just personal fulfilment. As for the overpopulation issue.... Well I figure that will happen anyway, regardless of my personal contribution or lack thereof. So yeah might as well be happy and make some positive contributions to humanity. Do plan to adopt, just to give a chance of a good life to a child who otherwise wouldn't have that. It's nothing to do with statistics. I would choose adopting over IVF, though that's probably more because I'm squeamish.
I wanna have one son one day... I'm an only child, my Dad was an only child, my grandfather was an only child. I enjoy being an only child.
I think it is important to consider the contribution you are making to the process of evolution when planning to have a child.
