Chicken or the egg

easy - egg. That is, if you agree with the theory of evolution. If the chicken evolved from some more primitive life-form that was not a chicken, but something closely resembling a chicken, then that life-form must have laid an egg, from which came a chicken. No 'first chicken' ever lived that did not come from an egg, but the layer of that egg was not necessarily a chicken.

In the instance that it's between the chicken or the chicken egg, it would be the chicken. The egg that bore it was not a chicken egg. It was a different bird's egg from which came a chicken.

chicken is a funny word. Like TREE! Go ahead and make the "tree" sound with your mouth hole, I dare you.

It must have evolved from a non egg laying species and then slowley evolved into giving birth to eggs.

The egg. Because if we all evolved from the same creature, then one day a chicken was born to an animal that wasn't a chicken.
